Im new here and Ive been asking a lot of questions on the Lap-Band board, but I just figured out there is a Maryland board. Ive been doing a lot of thinking lately about getting a Lap-Band and I really think Im going to start moving forward with it. I live on the Eastern Shore not too far from the Bay Bridge, about 30 minutes. Can anyone give me your doctor recommendations?

I am glad you found us here. My name is Terri and I also live on the Eastern Shore.   As matter of fact I am having the RNY Gastric Bypass tomorrow morning at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.  St. Agnes is only about  a 45 minute ride with no traffic that is.   I had been thinking about it for a long time I heard of the progam at St. Agnes from a friend whose husband just had surgery and is doing well.   You can to to the St. Agnes Website and look up the Bariatric Program. They have free seminars every month and they go over the entire program options what is best for who, etc.  it was very informative, then if you decide, you do some pre paperwork, set up a consult with the surgeon, their office will go over everything with you and work with you to get approval from your insurance etc. Hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything else I can  provide.   I will be unavailable for a while due to the hospital, but an update about my surgery may be on here.  Terri

Hi Mellie, Thought I recognized the name from the Lap forum.  I love, love, love my surgeon.  I've lost 45 pounds in 24 weeks with absolutely no complications, not even a bout of nausea.  Dr. Moein is terrific.  I have my profile set to private because I didn't like the fact that anyone can google me and come up with my page (certain people I just don't want knowing I had WLS), but I've done an add friend request for you in case you'd like to read a bit about my journey. Nice to find another Lap bander.  I lurk on the Maryland board a lot, and the people here are so very nice.  A majority of the members have had RNY so sometimes I kind of feel like I can't relate to some of the conversations.  That's why I'm more active on the lap board.  But I'll tell you, it doesn't matter what type of surgery you've had, everyone here is nice and supportive.  No my type of surgery is better than your type of surgery arguments like on some of the other boards.  Everyone here truly supports each other for having had WLS period! No drama.
