Question about RNY
I had just a quick question for all you out there that have been around for awhile. I was telling a friend of mine about me getting RNY. She was telling me that her brother inlaw had it done about a year ago. The doctor that he used the cost of surgery includes the surgery, routine followups and plastics. Has anyone ever heard of plastics being included with the RNY. Sounds to good to be true if you ask me.
Yeah too good to be true! No plastics is not included and follow ups are also charged to your insurance carrier if you have insurance.
I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
Those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

definitely too good to be true. The only insurance that covers plastics that I know of is Tricare for the military. They will only cover the tummy tuck but typically only if you had your WLS done by a military surgeon and the plastics done by a military surgeon and in military hospitals. I am not aware of them covering someone who used civilian care whether or not they were referred out (sometimes due to not enough surgeons or to many patients).
My "tummy tuck" was covered but none of my other surgeries, including a revision of the tummy tuck, are covered. I actually had a circumferential panniulectomy which is a fancy term for a tummy tuck all around. It was really a modified lower body lift but my surgeon recommended that procedure for me. I just recently had a bl/ba and will be having an outer thigh lift (the revision of the LBL) within the next 12-18 months.
