Sad news today

I just learned that a friend of mine died yesterday.  He had been in the hospital for a while for a serious condition and it was 3 days before he got to come home and he ended up with blood clots that reached his lungs and died almost immediately.  He was a very large man.  The only thing I have learned from this is that for all of you pre-op people, once you're out of surgery, you walk as soon as you can.  you walk your asses off or I will personally kick it!!!!!!!!!

Aaron  I am so sorry to hear about your friend.  My condolences to you.   To be honest when I saw the title of the messge you posted  that said "sad news" I was almost afraid to open it for many reasons. I am glad I did though, I have been scared of the blood clot thing it can be so serious.  The surgeon gave me  prescription to take injections for 15 days post up in an effort to prevent any blood clots.  He thinks I may be at risk so this is just precautionary.   I really did not want to take them, but I went and got the RX filled and will "shoot myself up" as needed especially in light of this sad news.  I will also walk, walk and walk I will be in pain so I won't want to add an A** kicking but thanks for the offer Aaron, if I need it I will take you up on it.   Take Care all!!!  Terri

Aaron, I am so sorry for you loss.  I know people really don't think things like this happen, but they really do.  We lost my FIL this way 5 days after a knee replacement.  The day before he was to come home he developed shortness of breath which ended up being a blood clot.  He died the day before he was to come home. For anyone who is having surgery, move, move move!  Aaron, I will go on the butt kicking mission with you if need be.
