I have been gone to long....
Hi to all. I have been on the board before but have a mom who was diagnosed with lung cancer and dementia. I have been taking care of her. I had to put my plans on hold but that was only the right thing to do. That way I could focus on her care. I still want to do the WLS and am thinking lap band. I have been trying to make the Crofton meeting since I live 2 minutes from the library. But mom comes 1st. My time will come when the man upstairs decides its right. I would love to hear from anyone about their lap band doc. and their experince. Thanks to Cira she always made me feel welcome. I am happy about her beautiful baby girl and happy for her new home. You are a great person and I know you will do well where ever you go. I will try to check in more often and hope to get to a meeting soon. Julie B.

Hi Julie -
Welcome back. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, she's lucky to have you. I'm going to let my bandster friend, Heather Modispaw, know about your post. She'll post to you, I'm sure, but she only gets on here sporadically.
In the meantime, I do know that there's also a lap-band forum. Not that we want you to go away, but you'll get more definitive answers from them.
By all means, come back as often as you can.
Tia
Hi Julie,
I am so glad to see your post. It has been a while since I have heard from you.
I am so very sorry about your Mom's diagnosis. It is never easy to deal with a sick parent I have been there and done that. i didn't really do anything else at that time but just be with my Mom. Everything in my life was not important anymore except taking care of my Mom and nursing my one year old daughter back then. I can totally relate with what you are going through.
I am so glad that you are still thinking of pursuing WLS. As Tia said there is a furum here for the lap banders and you will definitely get more answers there. Heather modispaw will give you great advice too.
I hope you get to go to a support meeting it will definitely help you.
Thank you so much for the good wishes. Although I am moving to WV I will not leave the MD forum. I have made too many friendships here and you are all special to me. So no need to worry I will still be around. it only takes about an hour drive from Odenton, MD to Charles Town, WV So I will definitely be coming up here to meet up with my OH family.
Please try to check more often and know that I am still here for you. You know my email address it will stay the same.
Big hugs to you girl.
I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Julie,
Good to see you on the board. I had Lapband surgery on January 4. Dr. Andrew Averbach is my surgeon. He performs surgery at St. Agnes Hospital. I have been very pleased with him and his practice. I've lost 42 lbs since surgery. I just got my second fill and am doing well. I'm pleased with my progress. I need to start exercising but work two jobs and haven't had time for exercise. I should be able to add that in the summer. As Tia and Cira mentioned, there is a Lapband forum that has been very helpful to me. If you have questions about the procedure or Dr. Averbach, send me a message. I'm happy to try and help. Also, there is a support group meeting specifically for Lapband patients at St. Agnes on May 21.
