Wanna Do-Over

Okay, here's a question for all you Post-Opers.  If there was one thing that you could do-over (as far as your weight loss experience) what would it be?  Help the new girl out.

I would have had this surgery years before!!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I agree with Cira I would have done it years ago, but of course it was not as safe years ago and it was done differently so all things happen for a reason. Stephanie

Thanks to you Post Opers- It is good for us Pre Opers to hear that you would do it all over again, as we move into next week our surgery week (Lisa and I )

as a brand new post op I would have to agree with everyone.....although I've only lost 20 pounds so far, I would still do it all over again and not change anything maybe I would buy more loose fitting clothes because I have been wearing the same sweatpants everywhere LOL  I have like a size 5 xl sweatpants with a size 7 xl shirt that I have been wearing since I came home from the hospital.  They don't interfere with the incisions because you will be super glued shut (no stitches or tape or any other dressings to minimize scarring) and they can get a little rough to the touch but it'll flake off soon.  Mine has already started to come off.  So if you don't have a lot of oversized clothes, you might want to get an outfit or two now so you have a better choice to wear as you heal.

Thanks Aaron.  You've given me another reason to go shopping!  I love you!

I would have never tested the limits with carbs & sweets.  I would have convinced myself that they are going to make me deathly ill and believed it and stayed away from them forever.  I do not dump very much at all anymore.  I only have issues if I go several days without getting in all my protein and live on snacking on crackers or candy.  It's usually because I am too busy to plan ahead or to stop and eat a real meal.  And because I want to eat that stuff or have cravings for it all again.  So wait as long as possible before trying out the pouch to see if you can tolerate sweets or carbs.   Hugs, Robin

I would have done more meal planning for my family ahead of time. Those first few weeks were so bad for me, trying to get everyone else fed when the sight of food turned my stomach.  Also, I would have admited to myself much sooner that I had a food addiction. Realizing that after the surgery was so difficult. i wish I could have worked through that before going through this.  All in all, this journey has been good.

Diane:  Thanks for the tip.  Never thought about that, but I've been reading a lot about how important meal planning will be.

Dianne, You wanna know what's hard?  Having my parents here after I got home from surgery and asking me to order them a pizza and having them eat it in front of me while I sucked down pureed cream of chicken soup and pudding!  LOL  Of course it wouldn't be fair to them to make them eat what I'm eating either :) Aaron
