A little on the frustrated side.
OK if you guys have read my blog I'll start from there. I called the insurance and yes I have to start my diet back from February so that means I won't get this surgery until about September or so. I purposely asked them if it had to be every six months and they said no as long as I start and stop 6 months with in the 18 months( this was from a guy in the clinic I should have asked insurance on this one). I just wanted to scream. I really thought I was going to be on the books by July. But I do have a really nice insurance lady that deals with the WLS and is on the board of who gets approved or not. She never seems to mind when I call and ask her anything. I'm just hoping these next 2 months fly by. Next I need to ask if my Psych andNut evals have to be within a certain amount of days.(30,60,90 days). Ok enough of my rambling or should I say venting. You guys are awesome.

Hang in there and don't give up.....the same thing happened to me. I started with my dietician in April of last year and I missed May, June and August. I went in september thinking I was finished but oh no...those three months I missed even though I was still dieting didn't count so I had to start over in September and had to go to February of this year. the work pays off....trust me!!
Thanks Aaron,
It's like I was telling the girl I work with. I don't care about the hoops they make you jump through and I don't care how many just tell where and when and how high and I'll jump. You know? Sounds like you're doing well in your recovery if you're already going to the gym. Thanks for your support at least someone understands my frustration.

That's fine Candie if not we can meet at the base or off the base I live near Dunkin Donuts. The kids were in a bowling league at the base so we always went there every Saturday.
Take care girl!

Hi Candie,
I totally went through this same thing! I had done a 6 month diet with my PCP last year, but missed my appt in July and so it didn't count. Then I did 6 more mos with the WLS program, and then my insurance changed to Aetna and they require the psych consult be within 6 mos of the approval, so I need a new one, which I'm getting next week. Add to that another nutrition consult with the Hopkins Nutritionist the week after that. Maybe you and I will be getting our surgeries together, who knows? Hoops hoops and more hoops to jump through.
Hi
Candie- I am sorry you are having issues regarding the 6month diet criteria. From my understanding that it did not have to be six months consistant that three months consistant twice is ok but not if you miss a month during the three month time period. As for the physch report I am not sure about the criteria for that, but to be on the safe side it might be good to get it right after you complete your six months diet program. I was really worried about the six month diet but, I was so fortunate with my insurance company. I went to the seminar at St. Agnes the end of Feb 08, had a consult with Dr Averbach in mid March 08 and had an approval the next day of the consult. Saw the nutrionist on April 1 and got the Pschy consult on April 8. The longest wait, was the 3 weeks for the psych report to get the Dr. Office. The office could not schedule the surgery without the psych report. My surgery is schedule for May 23. So as you can see the process took about 3months and even that seemed longfor me but from what Ihave read on this site, I am truly fortunate. Hang in there and just keep moving forward and good luck!

Oh sweety, I'm so sorry you got the runaround. It seems the whole process we have to go through can be so frustrating. Remember what I said though, it helps with the presurg jitters to know that you must really be sure about it to go through all this crap. Take a look at my blog and you can read how much on edge I was with all the insurance crap, LOL, trust me you'll laugh about it one day too. If you need some real life venting/moral support let me know and we can do dinner or coffee or whatever. Take care.
