I had a frustrating experience with Dr. Moein's office yesterday.  I know that the office has been going through alot of changes recently with staffing but incompetence should not be tolerated or allowed.  I am 3 months post op and needed a new referral for my 3 month visit.  I called my PCP on May 15 and told them that I needed a new referral faxed over to Dr. Moein's office.  I have the utmost confidence in my PCP's office and knew that this would be done quickly.  I called Dr. Moein's office on May 22 and spoke with the "Practice Manager" Adrienne and she told me that they had received the referral and was good to go for my visit on May 29.  I went to the office yesterday for my appointment and was asked at the front desk by Adrienne, the "Practice Manager" if I had a new referral, I told her that I had called last week and was told by her that the referral had arrived by fax and I was all set for my appointment.  She looked in my chart and could not find the referral, she looked and looked and looked throughout the office and still could not locate my referral.  She then informed me that since there was no referral on file that I had to either pay for the visit out of pocket, which since I am unemployed right now is not an option, or I had to reschedule the appointment.  I told her that it was her office's fault that the referral was misfiled and I should not have to be inconvenienced for it.  She told me that that is the office policy and that they are my only 2 options.  I then asked her if she was going to pay for the gas in my car to make a 2nd trip to the office when the referral was finally located, since I come from Middle River and have to drive to Towson for the appointment and everyone knows that gas isn't cheap!  She then told me that she could reschedule me for next thursday June 5th and that hopefully by then the referral would have arrived, I then reiterated to her that the referral was there in the office and that they were the incompetent ones and misplaced it.  Needless to say I left without seeing Dr. Moein for my appointment.  It gets better, On my way home, as I was pulling onto my street I got a phone call from Adrienne stating that they had located my referral, and what do you know, it was misfiled.  She told me that she would keep me scheduled for June 5 and she offered no apology at all!   I could not believe it, no explanation, no apology, no sympathy, nothing!   I was steaming mad, and still am, this incompetence has really gotten me rethinking my choice of surgeons.  I am comfortable with Dr. Moein, I like him and he was there for me through all the hell I went through with my many complications, but I think its time to look for another Dr.   Any suggestions?
