I have been looking at my diet and I notice that I eat alot of fat. It comes from what I consider healthy sources such as eggs, cheese, milk, peanuts and ground beef. I would say I eat almost as much fat as protein. all these foods are high in both. am i doing something wrong? i don't like eating unnatural things that were forced to be non fat. i do eat chicken and fish alot but i almost always eat eggs and nuts each day. any ideas?

hmmm.....I know from what I read, you're supposed to have at least 60 - 80 grams of protein per day (that gets bumped up when you start working out) but I think the most amount of fat you should have is between 30 - 40 grams per day.  Again, this is just what I read.

Nicole - Since you're still relatively new post-op, give your surgeon's office a call.  Find out what their parameters are concerning fat intake.  I find that my diet, too, is higher in fat than seems normal, but it seems as if every surgeon has different guidelines. Take an almost 3 year post-op's word for it - if in doubt, call the doc!  I envy you this honeymoon period - trust me, IT WILL NOT COME AGAIN.  That's not to say you won't lose weight (since 4/25, I've lost 9 pounds), but it's never as "effortless" as during the first year.  MAXIMIZE, MAXIMIZE, MAXIMIZE. I'm not a poster child here on following my doctor's orders for my food plan .. but I've been instructed to do high protein, low fat, low carb.   I know that I get too many fats because I do use cheese and it's not low fat cheese.   Stick with what works for you!  You are getting 'healthy' fats, but you might need to watch it some and cut back a bit . Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

If you eat the healthy fat it is good for you as long you eat in proportion. Healthy fats lowers your ldl cholesterol too. The actual grams I try to stay less than 35 grams. But call your nutritionist and what he or she says.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
