Support Groups - Can anyone attend?

I had my surgery at GBMC on April 9. GBMC's support group doesn't meet again until May 21.  That is another 3 weeks away for me, and I feel a little like I am losing my mind.   So my question is: Can people who have not had surgery at a particular hospital go to support groups there?  Or are there non-hospital based support groups in the area?  If so, where?  I'm in Harford County, but I'm willing to travel to places in the Baltimore area (Balt Co/City, AA Co, Howard Co).

Support is support...doesn't matter where it comes from.  I can't imagine anybody being so cold or heartless that they would close the door on somebody for not having surgery in the "right" location.  Our door/meeting is open to anybody who has had surgery...might have surgery.... is interested in surgery... or is simply interesting...lol.

i go to johns hopkins in baltimore city and they don't ask where you got your surgery so it is open to everyone. if you want to know when the next meeting is, go to their website and look under the calender feature. their website is: http://www.hopkinsbayview.org/bariatrics/index.html you can also post any of your concerns here. we are here to help. let us know what is going on and we can support you. good luck.

I think I remember seeing that Harford Memorial's group is open to everyone. I've never been.
