Hey all-  A little survey here- when they blow you up with air....how bad does that really hurt (gas pains) and for how long after the procedure?  By the by-- I have no scheduled my 1st appt. I (laughingly, very nicely) pushed a bit at the office of Dr. Singh to convince them that my Insurance does NOT require ther 6 months weight program..so cool, My 1st appt is 05/14/08!!   And awaaaaaay we go...   Alicia

Alicia: Good for you!  Make sure you take the documentation that you got from your insurance company.  Even if you need to do a supervised weight loss program, the time FLIES by and I found that it really helped prepare me for the new life I would be living.  I'll talk to you later.  Don't forget the support group tomorrow night!  Deb

Hi Alicia,

I had the gas pain stuck up in my left shoulder blade. It sucked for the week it was there. It magically disappeared the day after mywekk follow-up appt. with my surgeon. They told me to walk it off but walking didn't help. I think it varies for everyone. Some people might report they only had gas pain for a day or two. *shrugs* Go figure. It just varies

I had the gas problem and boy did it suck.....they kept asking me the 3 days in the hospital if i was passing gas, which i wasn't.  Once I went home, the pain went up into both shoulder areas for about a week.  There was absolutely nothing I could do about it either but at least it does go away.  Congrats on getting your first appointment.  I go to the same office you are going to (I see Dr. Averbach) and they are all sooooooooo nice there.  Was actually there today.  Good luck!!!!!

How is it you guys didn't think you were having heart attacks, I mean that is a little high up there--closer to the heart ya know?? -- Alicia --- I hear good things about Singh & Averbach---I am excited about getting into it!!

You know, even when I'm regularly gassy it makes my heart flutter.  However, after I had my EGD (they filled my stomach with gas) it was very hard for me to stifle it and the nurses there just told me to let it rip LOL  I too have had issues where gas gets lodged into my shoulder blades but don't worry about that, it shouldn't affect your heart at all.
