Please don't be discouraged. I think the doctors are somewhat guarded at the first appointment because so many people come in and then change their minds. Dr. Moein was the first doctor I saw when I went to GBMC. I was also very upset when I left. He had me feeling like I was hopeless. Look at me now! 100 lbs lighter. No more diabetes. All my doctors are so pleased with me health.  I had the opportunity to share a day with Dr. Moein. He walked with us in the Walk From Obesity last October. I learned so much about him in that walk. He is very dedicated to the success for each patient.  Good luck on your journey.

Hey Aime!!!  I'm not discouraged now...lol  I was on Monday, but that whole ordeal is over and I'm moving on...lol  I had my blood work done yesterday,  having my Psych Eval today, and my upper GI Series stuff done next week, and that will conclude all my testing that he has asked for.  This to me was alittle bump in the road...I'm just trying to avoid the pot holes...lol  Thanks again for responding. Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that I am a patient  of Dr. Moein's and I understand your frustration completely.  I started seeing him in July of last year.  I attended the informational session at GBMC in May and finally got a call from the office in June and had my 1st appt in July.  At that time the staff was not new,  they have mostly all left to follow Dr. Von Reuden.  When I went in to see Dr. Moein I was really leaning toward the RNY , but was still undecided and was really looking to Dr. Moein to lend me his medical knowledge to help me make my decision.  He too said, my BMI was borderline, I was young, and I didn't have any comorbidities so he felt that LAPBAND was best for me.  I was disappointed but felt that I could decide on my own what I felt was best for me, I did the research myself also so I knew what I felt was best for me.  At my first visit, I didn't decide which procedure to undergo and I too was undecided.   I had my surgery on 2/20/08, I chose the RNY, and although there are more risks with it, I had quite a few complications after surgery that caused me to stay in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks, I don't regret my decision and don't regret standing my ground, doing my research and deciding on the RNY.  I am now down 51 lbs., it would be more if I exercised, but that's another story for another day!   I will tell you though, I have been to many post op appts, more than a normal RNY patient because of my many complications and I have had to sit in the office for hours because of Dr. Moein running late in surgeries, so just be prepared because it has happened twice so far, frustrating but I truly believe he is worth the wait.   While I was in the hospital, he was there every day, keeping constant track of my progress with all the nurses and dr's and when I cried he even stood next to me, wiped my tears when I cried and held my hand, which I found quite refreshing and human. Good luck to you in whatever you choose!
