I am looking for a support group.  I'm in Gaithersburg.  I had my WLS in Dec. of 2003 and have maintained about a 50 lb. weight loss.  I am trying to get back on track, but felt a support group might help.  I'm also attending the event in Ashburn on May 3rd.  Anyone else going?  I'm feeling alone. Thanks. Sharone

I'll echo what Dee said.  I'm not close to Gaithersburg either, but please feel free to come here and join us.  We're open 24-7 (well, not quite), but you get my drift.  This is a great bunch of people and we gladly support each other. Hang in there, Tia

Hey there...best wishes for getting back on track! It's not easy!  We are here! It will be quite a drive, but we do a support group in Westminster the 3rd Wed of every month at the Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library. You would come up 27 I believe into Westminster. We would love to have you. Drop me a message if you'd like more specific directions and info...or if you'd like to talk.  Caryn

Hi Sharone!  I don't currently attend a support group either.  I am in the Hagerstown area.  I have actually suggested that Hopkins consider starting a group here, but I don't whether they can or not.  Do you ever get up to Hagerstown?  We could be a support group of two. *grin*

Thanks, everyone.  It doesn't look like there's anything close, huh?  Oh well.  I'll keep going on this sight and talking to you all. Take care. Sharone

Try Dr. Barry Greene, he is off of Shady Grove Rd.  next to Shady Grove hospital. They have two different support group for each type of surgery, one for newbies, one for people who have had surgery more than 11 months.  301-251-4128  9707 Medical Center Drive Suite 200 Rockville, MD 20850 Hope that helps, Ellie

Hello.  I am Susan L.  This is the first time (i think) that i am posting on this Board.  I have been posting on the general (VSG) Board since my surgery (March 21, 2008- VSG).  I, too, am looking for a support group in my area.  I am in Germantown so we are right next to each other.  My surgeon (who is in Baltimore) has a group that meets every two weeks but the distance presents a problem and the group is more of an educational group than a support group.  Perhaps we can start a group if we cannot find one already in progress?  I have looked on google and other search engines and cannot find a support group in this area.  Where did you have your surgery and with whom?  Did you contact your surgeon's office to see if they have any suggestions or know of any groups?
