OH Newbie - 2 1/2 Years Post Op

Hi.  I'm new to posting here on OH, but actually spent a great deal of time reading posts here before my surgery in 2005.  The information I found here was priceless in making my experience as smooth as possible. I had open RNY at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in September of 2005.  My surgeon was (and is) Dr. Thomas Magnuson.  I say "is" because I am currently 10 days post op for incisional hernia repair performed by Dr. Magnuson.  My experience with Bayview was so great the first time that I wouldn't even consider having anyone else do my repair.  This time was no different.  Everyone there is still wonderful! On the day I left the hospital after the RNY, my weight was 270 pounds. (wearing size 30)  Today I weigh 160 pounds. (wearing a size 14) I am very happy with my decision and would be glad to answer any questions or share any part of my experience.   Thanks for letting me hang out here with all of you. Renee

Hi Renee - Welcome!!  I'm glad you decided to become a poster, not a lurker!!  I agree with Robin, everyone here is great, very supportive, encouraging - like an extended family. We have get togethers periodically, in fact, Kristen has one organized to meet at Trader Joe's in Columbia tomorrow, so make sure you keep an eye out for more get-togethers.
