I was banded on 9/14/06.  I lost 80 pounds, but had a minor set back where I was too tight and had to have an unfill for 6 weeks and I gained 20 pounds back.  Now I"m having fills again and the scale is going down.  It is the best thing I could have done for myself.  I went from 3X to XL and am no longer insulin dependant or diabetic.  My bp is much better and my bp meds are minimal now.  Feel free to email me privately at [email protected]

Hello and welcome!  I don't have Dr. Averbach but my surgeon is Dr. Singh, who is his partner.  from what I've seen of him in the office when I was there for my appointments, he is a very caring gentleman.  The office staff there is TOPS!   There are many people here who do have Dr. Averbach and I'm sure they will chime in. Good luck to you.   Deb

I didn't have the lapband, but I am a patient of Dr. Averbach's.  he is great!!!!   He will answer any questions you have.  Everyone in that office is great.  I actually go back to the office in 2 weeks for my 2 mo. follow up. I really think you will be greatly pleased with him and the staff.  Good luck...

Hi Debbie, Dr. Averbach banded me on 3/14/08. My journey  has been wonderful. He was a little stand offish my pre op visit but was all about bussiness. I thought that was ok because I was not looking for  friend I wanted a great Dr. I had heard nothing but great things from him. I am a nurse and had been keping my ears open for over a year. I was listening to things like low complications low revisions, and high sucess rates and he was the one that had the best record. Cathy is great and so is the rest of his staff. I had my surgery on Friday afternoon and he came to visit 1st thing Sat. morning in his street clothes and could not have been more freindly to me and my family.  He stayed until I had my baruim test and read the results himself. Most Dr. dod not do that the nurses call with the results. Th enurses told me he always reads them himself. St Agnes was wonderful  they even got my sister a bed so she could spend the night with me. I had a private room. I was not self pay so I can't  help you with that. I go for my 6 week appt next week and I hoping for  a fill because I am straving and can eat anything I have only lost 3 pounds since I last saw him. ( 1 month). I am worried about that. The only complaint that I have heard about Dr. A is that he is very conservative with fills. I know what my body needs and I hope he listens  to me. NANCY

yes i had the bypass.  i had it feb 28 of this year and no problems either.  on occasion i have eaten something too fast and gotten that knott in my chest and rarely thrown something up that i ate...but all the times i have gone to see dr. averbach, he has been very pleasant and had a smile on his face.  he even has a very nice bedside manor in the hospital.  checked on me all three days and my discharge from the hospital was on a saturday and he was there before 9am to get all the paperwork filled out and checking on me, in street clothes...how often do you see dr's in anything then scrubs or suits.  he's been a real pleasure to have as a physician.  its nice to have a dr that see's your trying and supports you and tells you keep up the good work.  i think you will be very pleased with him...
