Hi. It just so happens that the food service company we use at the hospital where I work at  is the same company that provides food service at Bayview. They want to improve the food service experience for those we go to Bayview for WLS. When their region Director came to call on me he asked me what my experience was and asked if I could find out how others felt. I said I would ask my buddies for feedback. So lay it on me guys. They really want the good, the bad and especially the ugly. Thanks. Joteddie

Hi Jo, Most of my food experience there was a blur, and there wasn't much I could eat, same as you.  BUT the one thing that stood out was they gave me lemon italian ice.  And lemon crystal light I think.  Now, normally, I LOVE lemon, but on a new tummy, I wasn't very happy about that and probably grumbled under my breath "how stupid".   Teri

Oh Jo, You may remember how much I grumbled about the food during my 2nd hospitalization!   It was cold, it was extremely unappealing, generally gross.  It was high carb.  I got 3 crappy meals a day.  As a new post op dser, I needed 6 high protein meals a day.  The worst was the pureeed french toast!  And I can't stand green jello.  Give me any color but green and I always seemed to get green. When the nutritionist checked in on me I really ragged about how awful it was!  She asked me what I wanted (pureed).  I told her to bring me a banana and a spoon and that I would ma**** up.  She brought a pureed banana that looked like a dark brown puddle of poo! Of course my perspective comes from one who was admitted for nausea, vomiting and dehydration. After 6 days and with nausea now under control, I finally insisted that it was time for me to go home now where I could manage my own diet.

Jo, I was only there 24 hours, but I had SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, peach yogurt, jello, and chicken broth.  The chicken broth was great (as is all Bayview soups).  I can't complain at all, but I didn't have any other surgery there.  I was at GBMC for my Csection for 4 days and their food was outstanding so if you also do GBMC there is an extra tidbit.

This may not be timely as I just got home from my 3rd hospitalization.  But I'll answer anyway. If they shoved that putrid Crystal Light Lemonade at me one more time I was ready to scream. Just give me ice water. None of the artifical sweeteners have agreed with me since my surgery on 3/20.  I tried to tell anyone that would listen but NO ONE LISTENED. They delivered a small bottle of milk with a package of Carnation Instant Breakfast.  No enply cup. How the heck do you mix the milk with the big package of instant breakfast?  I just didn't have the evergy to even try. The only thing that agreed with me was the chicken broth and the strained chicken corn chowder.  I would love to have their recipe for the chicken corn  chowder if you have any pull. lol And any jello that is still in a gelled state 4 hours after it's delivered is NOT meant for human consumption.
