And things were going soo smooth...

I requested 2 years of my medical from my PCP. Then realized I needed 5 years of medical history. So..I requested any records that were created for me from 2001-Dec 31, 2004. Medical records came back with NOTHING!! WTF?!?

I called the doctors office and asked them when was the first time that I came to see them. They said February 20th, 2001. SO I explained to them my dilemma. The woman I talked with said that she saw in their computer where I was seen on Mar 12th, 2002 and April 3rd 2002. But no one can seem to find any doctors notes or records.

So, I decided to go one step further and call my pharmacy to see if they could pull up my prescriptions for the last 5 years. They did. And I filled prescriptions for those dates with that PCP..So where in the h*ll are my records at.

Im really stressed and bummed about this because that is a prerequiste from my insurance (BCBSIL). What legal steps can I take? How long is a doctors office supposed to hold medical records? UGHHHHH!

Im not a quitter...I will get justice...lol...

((( Heather ))) I'm sorry you've hit this bump in the road, but maybe it's not insurmountable.   Maybe with the combination of a statement from the doctor's office and the corroboration of the pharmacy records you can get BCBSIL to pass on this requirement? Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Ok :  First of all like Mo said I am sure they will take the letter from the Dr's office that the records are misplaced plus you have in info from the  Pharmicist. The road to WLS is often bumpy but it is so worth it in the end. There were so many times during my preop appointments that I wondered if it is worth all the hassle.  nine months postop I have my answer  A THOUSAND TIMES YES ITS WORTH IT. Keep plugging along and everything will be fine.  I sometimes wonder if the docs and insurance companies aren't in cahoots ( a grandmother word LOL)  They want to see how many hoops we are willing to jump thru. Keep the faith Darla

Heather, call and ask to talk to your PCP, explain everything and i am sure he will find a rational and logical solution, I really really feel what you feel right now, but on the other hand loved your moto, don't be a quitter and it will all come out right.  BTW, have you gone to any hospital, OB/GYN during this time? My doctor told me in the begginig thgat OBs records are as valid as PCP, since I personally didn't have a PCP until I started this journey, Ellie

I had BCBSIL and they said 5 years but I could only come up with 2.5 and they accepted that and approved me on first try.

Being a typical man... I words of wisdom aren't very good.  I would go ape-crap crazy on them.  but that would only give you a momentary happy.  I am sure things will work out for you.   They say that the best things in life you have to work and struggle for.....sadly, you are doing both for this...but it will be worth it.  Sometimes it is about the journey..and not the destination.  Other times is about the destination and not the journey.  When all is said and done, and you are utilizing that pole...you will realize that the set backs..sucked but you got through them...that is because you are a winner...and soon..a LOSER!!!!!  See you soon!!

Glad to make you smile... It of course is one of the prettiest smiles that I know.  I have still having some pretty serious issues related to the kidney stones...so I understand the issues related to doctors and run-arounds.  It is always sad that we try to the our best for everybody else...but when we try to do for ourselves...we suffer... thanks for the photo comment.  Not very good at making the photos small enough...but I thought I needed a change...
