My esophagus is back to normal!!!

I went this morning for my follow up Upper GI and my esophagus is back to normal. Needless to say...LESSON LEARNED! I have been unfilled for a month and while I didn't eat junk, I could eat more and I got hungry OFTEN. I of course was no longer having any kind of vomiting either so what I wasn't getting calorie wise before I was now getting. SO, everything looked great and the NP gave me a fill. She first asked how much I had before and that was 9ccs. The NP wanted to give me 7ccs and I flat out told her no. My first fill post op was 6ccs and my stomach swelled so badly that I couldn't eat for 3 days and I even had trouble drinking. At that time they took out 2ccs and left me with 4ccs. So today I let her put in 5ccs and I'm doing great so far. If I don't have good restriction I can go back next week to bump up my fill a little. So, that's it for me for now. Glad to be back on the losing track!

((( Heather ))) That's wonderful!    I'll see you tonight (Friday).  I'm going to go out shopping so call me and let me know where to meet you when you are ready.   Starting at Kohls in Severna Park but I might end up at the new Kohls on Quarterfield. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I've got your order :)  I'll call you as planned.  We can meet you anywhere.  Mom said she went to the Wal-mart on Quarterfield and never saw lines so long in her entire life (and she's 64!).  I told her it must be because it's new.  The ones in Arbutus and Aberdeen aren't like that.  See you tonight!

We went to the new Walmart last Saturday and it was a ZOO.  I only had a handful of items so I got thru the 12 items or less line fairly quickly, but the lines were murder at the other registers.   I hope the novelty wears off SOON .. or I'll be driving 45 minutes to the Wally World in Easton instead of 20 to 25 minutes to Quarterfield Rd. xoxox

Glad to hear it, Heather.  I hope you do well wtih the 5cc fill.  (I was surprised to learn that your first fill was 6ccs--that's twice what I received as my first fill in January and Dr. Moeinolmolki said I didn't need a second fill yet, in March.  I hope to get another one when I go back in May.  My loss has slowed to a MAX of 1 lb./week.  Better safe than too tight, I guess.)  Hope everything goes great for you now. It's not how fast you go, but that you're moving in the right direction!

Terri, Sounds like your doc is conservative, which is fine   I questioned that 6cc fill when they told me that's what they were going to give me after my husband had received 4cc at his first fill a few months before.  I was told that it was their new protocol after going to a band conference.  It was just too much too fast for my tummy, but I know that many people are receiving 6cc for their first fills without any trouble.  The journey is so different for each of us.  btw, I'm doing very well with the 5cc that I received.  No reflux, no pain, no getting stuck, no vomiting, and I'm eating solid protein with no trouble.  The scale is going back down.  I'll see how it goes, but I plan on going for a fill in about a month.

Hi Heather.  I am so glad to see you are doing better.  I haven't been on the site in a very long time!  Too busy at work to even lurk.  But hopefully I can begin to at least check in a couple times a week so I may begin to feel "in touch" again with the group.  I'll have to do a post about my bl/ba.  What an experience - one I feel may be worth sharing with others.   Well, have a wonderful week! Hugs, Robin
