Today I want to talk to you a bit about bravery and what it means to be brave.  When it comes to creating positive and healthy change in your life, this little five-letter word plays an awful large role.  In short, one must be willing to face adversity in order to change life-long patterns and eliminate negative thinking.  Many great thinkers believe that all of our behaviors are motivated by either pain or pleasure.  Doing things that bring one pleasure is always easy to accomplish.  It’s the other end of this continuum that gives people trouble because we all seem to want to avoid anything painful and unpleasant.  And I think we can all agree that change can definitely be both painful and unpleasant.

For those who want to alter the present course of their lives, this is why change demands bravery.  Anything you want to transform in your life, be it the shape and weight of your body, your job or some other important aspect of your life, making significant changes demands bravery.  Most people are afraid of change and allow that fear to abort their mission.  This reminds me of a line I heard in a movie some time ago. I don’t remember the film, but at one point in the movie a woman was hesitant to do something because she was scared.  The lead actor looked her right in the eye and said, “It’s not brave if it’s not scary.”  Fear opens up the door to bravery.

So, if you want to accomplish those things you deem important in this life, I suggest the following… practice bravery!

Wishing You Great Health,
