Dr. Moeinolmolki
Hi Heather,
I love Dr. Moein. I bonded with him from the minute I met him in the informational seminar. He has been caring, informative and tough on me. I know that I picked the right surgeon for me. He has helped me to change my life and I am forever grateful. Plus, he's too cute!
I would encourage you to attend a session, meet him and judge for yourself! Best of luck!

He is a very sweet man. I first saw him when I went to GBMC to look into surgery. He also visited me while I was still using the pump for pain. Almost got myself in trouble there. Sexy doctors while one is drugged.... Anyway! You can't go wrong with Dr. Moen.

The love of my OH Family has me humbled!!!!
I loved him. He has a quiet soft spoken way about him but he knows what he is doing. According to other people I have talked to that had surgery with other doctors, he may be a bit more strict about proceeding to the next level in regards to eating and pill taking, but I say better safe then sorry. I don't regret for one second having used him.
Hey Heather!!! Congrats on the Insurance. As for Dr. Moein, I can't say one way or the other...lol However I just started my journey and he will be my Dr. Actually my 1st appt with him is on the 21st of April. I did have a chance to meet him at the informational session that you have to go to first before setting up an appointment with him (thats what I was told). So I went to the informational session on 3/12. Then you have to wait for the staff there to look over your stuff and see if you meet the NHI criteria for WLS , and they verify your insurance. Then they call you and if everything is a go they give you an appointment with the Dr. and I got mine scheduled for 4/21. I guess I could tell you more after my 1st appt....lol But so far, so good. I got a good vibe from him at the informational session. So I can't say more about him right now, but I'm sure I will be able too in the future.

Hi heather,
Nice to see you posting!
You know I had Dr. Von Reuden but when I was in the hospital Dr. Moein came to check on me a few times. He was compassionate and has a wonderful bedside manner. He has done a great job on a lot of people and I would recommend him anytime to any of my friends or family.
I am so glad that you have the insurance that will cover the surgery now. That is fantastic!
Wishing you all the best!
I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

HI Heather,
I chose Dr. Moein and GBMC over Hopkins and I am so very happy with him. I can't say enough about him. He is an excellent surgeon, he takes time to ask you a lot of questions and actually LISTENS to your answers. My surgery was the most uneventful surgery I've ever had, and I have had two c-sections, cholecystecomy, hysterectomy, and spinal surgery to mention some. I was actually discharged several hours early because I was doing so well, and being self-pay, I received a $512 refund from GBMC.
You don't mention if you know what type of surgery you are considering, but guides you to what is best for you after a thorough review of your history and exam. I thought I wanted RNY, but he said since I had less than 100 pounds to lose, I was an excellent candidate for the band, the least invasive form of surgery with no concerns of dumping or malnutrition. He does RNY and the sleeve, and said that surgeons make a lot more money on RNY than bands, but that I just didn't need it! His honesty with that really earned my respect. My husband also felt really comfortable with him as soon as we finished the info session. He felt there was no comparison between the Hopkins program and GBMC. We both knew GBMC was where we were most comfortable. He really appreciated how much time Dr. M. spent with us at each visit, pre-op, post-op, and how much information he gave him when he came out to talk with him after my surgery.
He is more conservative with fills than most doctors, and I appreciate that. I've only had one fill. I'm losing about a pound a week now and I have to say that there are people on the lap band forum that talk about their 4th and 5th fill, and they had their surgery AFTER me. These are also some of the same people that are having problems from being too tight. Dr. Moein strictly follows the protocol. He explained to me that as long as I am having success on my 3cc fill (in a 10cc band), he's not going to give me a fill. He said many surgeons get aggressive on the fills on the front end, people have problems with them, and when you get nearer to goal, that's when the band really needs to kick in and do it's work to get that last bit of weight off, but if you're already tight, there doesn't leave much adjustment room. At first I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get a second fill, but after I thought about it, I really appreciated his dedication to his patients and doing what is best for my health overall. It took me 5 years to put on this weight, and it's okay if it takes me a year to lose it.
I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. M.

I can say nothing but positive, glowing things about Dr. Moein. I believe I made a great choice, to have him as my surgeon. I healed lightening fast, had not a single complication, and have lost over 95 pounds since beginning my pre-op diet last July, about 80 pounds since surgery in December.
He is a little quiet at first. But, very positive, wonderful bedside manner, very gentle and reassuring morning of pre-op, and every minute at the hospital. He's been supportive, but tough since surgery.
Hugs!

I have a mixed review for DR Moein. He is very calming pre-surgery and yes he is cute. But he didnt stop in to check on me after the operation and the nurse couldnt get hold of him to ok me to have some water after the swallow test. At this pooint I had been with no water for 17 hrs and my throat felt like it was closing up on me. I also tried to get hold of him for 2 days about my meds after I went home when he finally called. Then he didnt remember me. Just thought I wanted more narcs when I was a week out from surgery - I was actually out 4 days and wanted something milder. I was sent home with pills too and not informed that I could crush them - so here they sit, paid for and not used. Didnt need them by the time he called back.
