Breakfast Ideas?
I haven't been posting in awhile due to an unexpected medical issue that has kept me laid up for awhile. I have been doing well, lost 43 pounds so far. My one problem is breakfast. I usually have a protein shake, but every so often I want something different. Anyone have any "must-haves" for brealfast?
Hi Sandi, I like tuna or boiled egg or cottage cheese. I'm a big believer that you don't have to have "breakfast" food for breakfast. Some days I actually do a Chef Boyardee beef ravioli cup. It's got 7 grams of protein and it's just under 1 cup of food so it's good portion control for me and it's fast at the office. Tia is grossed out by it, but her nephew B LOVES it too hehehe
Heather - my sister!! I LOVE those with the mini meatballs. There are about 20 cans in my pantry right now because there were coupons in the Sunday paper about 3 weeks ago. So, in addition to being 10 for $10 at Giant and Superfresh, I had coupons for $1.00 off 3 cans.

Sandi,
I usually have a shake in the morning. That is where I get the most protein from. The way I make it is over 40 grams of protein. Some mornings I want something different too. I like Quaker Instant Oatmeal Weight Control. It has 7 grams of protein. I then try to make the protein up later in the morning or afternoon. It is yummy!

I usually rotate these three during the course of the week:
1 packet instant grits, with shredded FF cheddar cheese and 2 slices Oscar Mayer pre-cooked bacon mixed in. This is my favorite because it keeps me full for a long time.
Protein shake with soy milk, frozen bananas and frozen strawberries
Ceral - usually Honey Bunches of Oats or Total with soy milk

I also drink protein shakes w/ added berries or bananas in the AM which = 35-40 grams For a change I eat the Weight Control Oatmeal mixed with a little skim milk = 10 grams Special K also makes a Protein cereal ( I like to add a little splenda & berries ) = 19 grams w/ the skim milk This morning I had a leftover homemade pita pizza = 15 grams Remember, It doesn't always have to be the typical breakfast. I like the protein shake cause it seems to fill me up and last longer than anything else. Best ~ Christina
Here are my main breakfast staples:
1. Quaker makes the Weight Control Oatmeal. It tastes great (I love the maple flavor) and even has 7 grams of protein to boot.
2. Bacon. Yep, just bacon. I eat the thickly sliced stuff that has 7 grams per two slices. I can usually eat 3 or 4 slices.
3. On those all-to-frequent mornings that I'm rushing out the door because I'm late for work, I eat a South Beach protein bar. They have 19 grams of protein and come in various flavors.
My protein shake comes in between breakfast and lunch.
Hope this helps!
