Lets talk food for a minute.  What is your favorite PROTEIN snack! I really like Edemame (soy bead)  I like the fresh and like them dry.  I think for 1/3 cup there is 16grams of protein.  They are great fresh, you can get them at Bjs and Whole Foods.

Hey Kristen!  My favorite protein snacks are Oscar Meyer Mesquite Turkey Deli Meat,  Old El Paso FF Refried Beans and the Jif To Go cups of peanut butter.  I still do shakes, but I've been trying to get most of my protein from food.  It's funny, I ate edemame whenever I used to go out for sushi, but never thought to have it without being in a sushi restaurant.  *lol*  What a goof!  I'm going to pick some up this weekend.  THANKS!

Yeah, like we don't ALWAYS talk food!!!  It's like porn for us, isn't it???  LOL!!! I can't really say I have a fave - I just always try to get the most protein bang for my buck.  I do LOVE Greek yogurt, which is really high in protein and cheese.  Although cheese, for me, is proving to be evil because of the fat content.  I like SOME of the lower fat cheeses, but good ones are hard to find.  As far as main sources of protein - I'd have to say salmon (in the little cups), which I had to salads, and shrimp, which is very versatile.  I love them both! I love edamame, too - Trader Joe's sells them dried in the dried fruit and nut aisle, and they also sold them frozen - shelled and unshelled.  When I was there last week, they were out, and I was told they were trying to find a new source for them.  To me, the frozen ones taste like lima beans when they're cooked, and I usually add some butter/margarine and salt and pepper and serve them that way!!  Yummy!!! Hmm, what is Greek Yogurt?  And how is it similiar/different from traditional yogurt?  Do you add anything to it or just eat it from the package?  Is it carried in regular stores (Giant, Safeway, etc).  Can you tell that I'm excited about a new food find?   Where have I been and how did I miss Greek Yogurt?  *lol*

Well, I discovered Greek yogurt in Trader Joe's (but some Giants carry it, too).  The only brand I've ever seen is Fage (pronounced fa-yuh).  It's MUCH thicker than regular yogurt, something about the processing of it (straining it), makes it thicker and higher in protein.  I buy the fat free version and use it like you would sour cream (tastes just like it to me).  I use it in dip or for breakfast, sweetened with Splenda and berries.  By all means, check it ou!  It's one of my faves!! Thanks Tia!  I'll be sure to add it to my list since I'm hitting Trader Joe's on Sunday.  And, since I love sour cream, I'm sure I'll love it.

Ok, well I usually munch on Planters Peanuts alot and I still eat the Pure Protein bars from Wal-Mart. They have 20g of protein each.  Taya, I never thought about eating refried beans in a can. I always make some chili every so often and that does me a lot of good. I should go get a couple of cans of refried beans to take to work.

This will be the only time that I will be referred to as a loser.......

Yep, I love them.  I either portion them in tupperware at home or I'll leave some cans in my desk.  I can eat them plain with just a little pepper, but if I have time, at home, I'll chop a little onion and tomato, then top with a small teaspoon of FF sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.  Love it!  I ate that at least twice a week, sometimes more.

I can't wait to try it.  I hope that I like it because I use sour cream on and in lots of stuff.  The GY would be a great lternative with so much more protein.
