Ok..maybe this isnt the most appropriate thing to post on a WLS site, but Im gonna do it anyway.

Chik Fil-a is offering a free promotional sandwich today.

All you have to do is go to your participating Maryland chik fil-a store and say the phrase "I can take the heat". They will give you a free spicy chicken sandwich. No purchase neccessary. Some stores dont offer the spicy sandwich in Maryland, so make sure you check their website to see if they are participating.

Are you sure you want to have weight loss surgery? I can't speak for everyone, but the point of weight loss surgery is to be used as a tool to loose weight. Just bringing up the topic of a free sandwich from a fast food place is bout the most foolish thing I have read on this board!!!!

Ya (ya'll soulja boy fans can understand that one)...

Never thought I would get beat up over a chicken sandwich. A Chicken Filet sandwich without the bun or pickles (and the spicy doesnt come with anything but the chicken and the bun) is 230 calories and 11g of fat...D*mn...thats only a little more then a slim fast optima shake which is 190 calories and 6g of fat.

I am grateful for your concern in my food choices and dont mind the criticism of the topic that I chose to post...each person has their own mind-set. I personally dont take offense when someone writes about "foolish fast food", but you do...to each their own.

Thanks for your two cents.

BTW- (whispering) I didnt even stop and get a free sammy.....shhhhh dont tell anyone, they will think Im being a hypocrite...

Hey there man!!!   So since you are judging this lady because she posted about a free chicken sandwich, does it mean that you have thrown out the evil boob TV out the window? You have cut the cord to the radio and never ever listen to it anymore? How about when you are driving down the road you have blinders on like horses do to keep you focus straight ahead??? When you have WLS you are not dead to the world you will eventually eat again all you have to do is  work your tool to be successful.   Who ever told you that you will never be able to eat a chicken sandwich ever again? Yes you will modify by getting rid of the bread and modify to your specifications. I went to chick file and had a few nuggets which is checken breast. The chicken sandwhich would be two meals for me.   This board is for support not for knocking people down.  Remember you just had surgery and you are not dead you will be able to eat again you will just make the right choices instead of the wrong choices.  One suggestion for you..... If you don't like what you have read please move on if you don't have nothing nice to say!

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
Those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

With all due respect we have all walked on the food side.  Keep in mind that not everyone here has had WLS yet.  Talking about food is not a bad word, we all still eat and we are not dead.  With that being said there is some people that are a couple years out and can eat foods, like a chicken sandwich.  Just food for thought. I just don't think posting on this board about free food at a chik fil-a is a positive thing for people going through wls or thinking about weight loss surgery.  Before my surgery I dieted and loss over 40 lbs, I didn't think about free sandwiches at fast food places, I thought about excersising and changing my life for the better. I avoided fast food and did what my nutritionist advised me to do. I am not trying to put anyone down, just my opinion.

Regardless of where you are in your wls journey, be it thinking about it, immediately post-op or long-term post-op like myself, there are ALWAYS going to be issues with food.  Be it commercials, free food offers or what have you.  The most important thing to remember is that WLS surgery is NOT a cure-all, the weight can be gained back and that we have to develop good habits.  In the past, yep, I would've gotten the sandwich, added mayo (maybe cheese, too), and eaten the entire thing, plus a side of fries.  Now?  Yep, I may still order the sandwich, but eat only the chicken - no bread, mayo, fries, etc.  In short, it's up to us to continue to make the right choices for ourselves.  Our surgeries and their outcomes are as unique as we are. No harm in posting this offer - it's up to each person to decide what's right for them. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE PEOPLE, IT'S A CHICKEN SANDWICH - NOT WORLD PEACE!!!! Tia

Thanks Heather!  As Tia said, I'll probably stop for one.  I'm sure it will yummy without the bread and I'll have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
