Does anyone know of a lap band dr who is affordable in/near Maryland? I know in some areas, especially TX, the rates can be as low as 9-10k. I assume they're more affordable because of the competition from nearby Mexico. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx.

Thanks for your response. I thought they had told me 15k when I called the office, but I could be wrong. I'll double check. Thanks again.

I don't know but you can contact GBMC and find out how much they charge.   443-849-3779

"Affordable" is hard to say since we don't know what you would consider affordable.  I was lucky in that I had savings to draw from. My surgery was at GBMC with Dr. Moeinolmolki and I would not change a thing!  (I was originally considering Hopkins Bayview, but personally liked the GBMC program, Dr. M and Dr. VR better. -- I know Dr. VR is now with St. Agnes.)  I love Dr. Moein.  I think my total, including hospital, Dr. M. and the anesthesiologist was around $14,000.  Plus you have to factor in fills.  But I actually received a $509 refund from the hospital since my surgery was so successful and uneventful, I went home hours ahead of the usual time.  Heck, if I had known, I wouldn't have wasted money having my husband fill the anti-emetic and pain meds prescriptions...never opened the bottles!   Dr. Moein! Dr. Greene in Rockville charges 14K for lapband and has mentioned  to petients quite a few times if insurance doesn't cover, have a personal talk with him, also his nurses have mentioned in support meetings and I have read in support emails that if insurance covers the band but not the fills, agian make sure to mention it to Dr. and he will work it out with you. I still am not sure how affordable would that be for you, but they are wonderful practice Ellie
