Hello everyone!  I just wanted to say hi...I'm new on this board and wanted to stop by and say hello to my fellow Marylanders.  I am in the process of working through my nutritionist appts...hopefully within the next 2 months or so I'll know whether I am a "good candidate" to have the bypass surgery.  My BMI is around 54...so I know I'm a candidate...it's just a matter of getting approved by Kaiser Permanente...hello! Hi Marnie, Welcome to the boards.   I hope you will find the Maryland group as loving and supportive as I have over the last 4 years.   I personally think we are an absolutely awesome group of people! If you are interested in meeting some other pre ops as well as some post ops, there is a monthly support group meeting in Glen Burnie at North County HS.   We generally meet on the first Tuesday of the month, but April will be the 2nd Tuesday - April 8th.   We start gathering about 6 p.m. and have a half hour 'social' time then get down to a more formal meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  All are welcome and more details and directions will be posted as the date gets closer. Looking forward to seeing 'less' of you in the future (that's 'loser' humor for you!!).  Best wishes as your WLS journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Welcome to the boards.   And welcome to the fun process of getting approved. Don't worry ;  The time will pass quickly and we will be dusting off a place on the losers bench for you.   Any questions:  ask away here on the board.  There  is always someone who has "been there and done that". God bless Darla
