Anyone Experience This?

Okay, I am four weeks out today.  I will be finishing my pureed phase tomorrow and I have lost 30 pounds so far.  I am so psyched about that and the fact I don't snore now and have begun sleeping through the night.  I am having a problem with eating though.  It seems like no matter what or how much I eat, I feel like if I put another thing in my mouth I will through up.  It is making it almost impossible to drink between meals, so I am not getting in anywhere near enough water.  I'm not getting a nauseous feeling or pains or anything, just the feeling that I am going to explode.  It usually takes a couple hours for the feeling to subside...usually just in time for my next meal.  Has anyone else had this, and I guess is it something that is normal in the beginning and will go away, or should I be concerned and call my doctor? Also this morning I woke up and my burps smell like rotten eggs (I know...gross, sorry).  Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Sandi, I am a huge proponent of if you have any questions at all, call your doctor's office.  The board is not the right place to get medical advice.  It might be nothing or it could be something serious. That being said, I'll share my own experience at about 4 to 4 1/2 months post op.  I was having a lot of pouch discomfort/pain/gas and was throwing up way more than was normal.  I just kept toughing it out thinking it was something I was doing wrong.   The reality was when I finally called my doctor at home one Saturday night after heaving for 4 straight hours, that I had an esophageal stricture that had morphed into the beginnings of a fistula which was allowing food/liquid to pass to my old pouch.   If you are having problems with your pouch, please check with your doctor.  It may be fine or it may be the symptom of a small complication which can become a bigger complication if not dealt with. Hope you get feeling better soon. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi Sandi;    I agree please call your doctors office a.s.a.p.! Early on I had a stricture and an ulcer. Simple fix; they will do an EDG (pc of cake) you will be asleep. They scope you to see if everything is doing what it's supposed be doing. For my ulcer I took carifate, and for throwing up they gave me reglin. Sometimes it just goes that way; but don't let it go on and on without a doctors intervention and consultation. What you are experiancing is not the norm. This can also reak havocik on your vitamin intake; you don't want to let it go so long that you get into trouble with that as well. I don't know if any of this pertains to you; but please get it checked out and let us know how you are doing. Best of luck, Judy R

Sandi Congrats on your weight loss.  Most important thing I have learned is listen to your body.  You will know when not to take another bite.  This is still all baby steps.  Protein is your main concern and if you can drink it, that might help you.  There were days I could not eat but I would make sure I take some protein or mixed it with pudding.  If you ever have questions, you should always call your doctor, you pay for them and that is why they are there.

Hugs Kristen   KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
