Feelings

Hey there Everyone,

I first want to apoligize to all my friends in crofton for not being around latley. Mike and I have been in a couple's bible study that meets on Thursdays. There is about another month or so then I hope to be back when this is all over.

What I am writing about though. Is the fact that I am going crazy. You see I have been looking in RNY for a year or so. Well now I am a month into my supervised dieting. You know that evil thing that our insurance makes us do. Well for the last week I swear I am going crazy. You see I have been talking myself out of the surgery. I do not know why I am doing this. I have started to talk myself into the LapBand. I just was talking to my nut at Johns Hopkins Weight Loss Management tonight and she thinks that RNY is the way to go. I know that the RNY is better for me but not sure why I am talking myself out of it. Has anyone gone through this. I almost think that it is the fact that the surgery was a dream always out of graps, but now I am 1.5 months into my diet. So now the surgery is getting close to be acheived. I don't know if this makes sense or not. But any input would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks,
Kellie

Hi Kellie, I am sure we all go through the am I doing the right thing phase. I know I did. I had the DS and after about a year of research that was the surgery I thought was best for me. You have to really think about your lifestyle and what is best for you. We are all here for you so ask away anytime! Good luck Amy

I talked myself into and out of LapBand a few times. I went to the GBMC information session intent on LapBand. But, during the seminar ,I started to think that because of my metabolic disorder, and my eating habits, that RNY was the way to go. I brought my friend along to the info session, so that she would be informed as well, and help me make the decision. She was the one that pointed out that the recovery time isn't that much shorter with LapBand, etc. That is not to say that LapBand isn't for you. I just didn't feel at the time that it was the way for me to go. I had RNY in December, and have no regrets at all. If your surgeon has support group meetings for bypassers seperate from bandsters, you might want to consider going to at least one of each to talk to graduates of both surgeries.
Hugs!

Kathy,

Thnks for the infomation.

I have gone to a seminar and they touched on all the surgeries. I stayed after for their support group as it is required for the surgery. I got to talk to people that have had the surgery. I was also going to the Crofton support group and I am going to start going back there also.

I think that part of my freaking out was due to the fact that I have not been in a support group for a little while now. I think that I really need it and that is gives me that this is why I am doing it. If that makes since.

Thanks Again,
Kellie

This Thursday will be a month into my supervised diet. I am 5 foot 4 and weigh 262 pounds and I talked myself out of RNY after going to the seminar. Despite that fact that the doctors said the weight loss is at a slower pass with lap band, I think that is the way Im going.

Looks like we have a lot in comon. I guess we will become good buddies as we are going to be very close together in the journey. I hit my first month of the diet on the 15th so I am almost 2 months into the diet. Can't wait to see how you do girl.

Hi Kellie It's good to see you posted something. I think since it is closer to being achieved you are having second thougths but that is normal. You have to do whats best for you and really research which will be better for you For me, I wouldnt have done well with Lapband and dont think my weight loss would be where it is today if I hadnt done RNY But in the end it is what is best for you so make sure you do your reasearch and really take the time to decide

Talk to you soon

Hey Kelly,

I am going to try and start coming back to the support group meetings. I was telling Mike how much I miss everyone and how much I need the meetings. Can you please send me the new schedule.

Also I am going to try and get more involved with posting. I have always been quiet on here because I did not think that I had anything to add.

Hope to see you soon,
Kellie
