Band Fill pain?
Hi Heather,
Fills do not hurt at all. I had my first fill on January 17. I can feel the port sometimes now that I've lost 33 pounds, but it doesn't hurt. I can feel it when I am lying on my back. How often you receive fills depends upon how well you are losing and how agressive your doctor is. The standard is if you are losing 1 to 2 pounds per week, and are not having in between meal hunger issues, you are doing well at the current level. But I've read on the lapband forum about people who had their surgery after me (11/30/07) who have already gone in for a THIRD fill! Not surprisingly, a lot of them are complaining about PBing, pain, not being able to even ge****er down, etc. That's just NUTS! One girl has already gone back for an unfill.
I go back to Dr. Moein on March 17 for follow up. A fill will be done only if he decides I need it. He follows the guidelines; he does not automatically schedule a fill like some surgeons do. I have been completely complication free from day one, and I attribute that to Dr. Moein's methods, evaluations and experience.

I didn't need a fill until 3.5 months out. About then, I got to where I could eat too much and I knew it was time. It didn't hurt. It felt like I was getting a shot -- just a little pinch when the needle first went in. My port is located right under my bra band on my left side. I can't feel it unless I'm lying down.
