OK  HERE GOES  I WAITED A WEEK TO TALK WITH THE DR. ABOUT MY OPTIONS SHE GAVE ME ONLY ONE ;  A COMPLETE HYSTOS -  OPEN OF COURSE. HER FIRST COMMENT WAS ' YOU REALLY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT"  I WAS SO ANGRY I COULD NOT SEE STRAIGHT.  I SAID YOU HAVE MY RECORDS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU .  LOOK BACK AT MY WEIGHT 1.5 YEARS AGO;  THEN LOOK AT OCTOBER 07;  AND SINCE YOU HAVE NOT BOTHER TO CHECK MY WEIGHT IN JANUARY WHEN I SAW YOU OR TODAY LET ME TELL YOU IT IS 40 LBS. LESS THEN I WAS IN OCTOBER.  SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL ME  I NEEDED TO LOSE AT LEAST ANOTHER 75 LBS. BEFORE SHE COULD DO A LAP SURGURY TO REMOVE MY CYST. " THE NEEDLE WON'T GO THRU ALL THAT FAT".   BY THIS TIME I AM JUST ABOUT READY TO SLAP THE S**T OUT OF HER. I KNOW I AM STILL OBESE BUT THIS WOMAN HAD ME SO ANGRY. I KNOW I STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO BUT HER COMMENTS HAVE MADE ME REALIZE ALL SHE WANTS TO DO IT GET THAT SURGICAL FEE. SHE HAS NO BEDSIDE MANNAR AT ALL.. SHE ALSO MADE COMMENTS LIKE AT YOUR AGE THE BEST THING TO DO IS A TOTAL "CLEAN OUT"  YOU CERTAINLY ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ANY CHILDREN SO WHY PUT YOURSELF THRU ANOTHER 5 YEARS OR SO OF PAIN;  JUST LET ME TAKE EVERYTHING AND YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT AGAIN. HMMM LET ME SEE OPEN = 4-6 WEEKS OFF WORK;  NOT TO MENTION NOT BEING ABLE TO EXERCISE DURING THAT TIME.  THEN WHEN I CAN EXERCISE I WOULD HAVE TO BASICALLY START ALL OVER AGAIN BUILDING MYSELF UP TO WHERE I AM NOW .   WHEN I TOLD HER I DID NOT WANT AN OPEN SHE SAID WHY BECAUSE OF THE SCAR?  YOU ARE TOO OLD FOR BIKINIS ANYWAY THIS WOMAN HAS THE GALL TO KEEP MENTIONING MY AGE AND WEIGHT. I EXPLAINED ABOUT NOT WANTING TO TAKE SO MUCH TIME OFF OF WORK AND EXERCISE AND SHE THEN SAID WE HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DISCUSS AND MADE A POINT OF NOTING ON MY CHART THAT I REFUSED HER ADVICE OF THE COMPLETE HYSTOS.  I DON'T NO WHY ;  SHE NEVER SEEMS TO LOOK AT THE CHART ANYWAY. SO I GUESS I LIVE WITH THE PAIN AND GET 2ND AND 3RD OPINIONS ;  I CANN'T STAND THIS DR--- IF I DO GO AHEAD WITH THE HYSTOS IT WILL BE WITH A DIFFERENT DR THATS FOR SURE.

THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT  AND KRISTIN IF YOU READ THIS YOU WILL BE

HEARING FROM ME SOON

Wow Darla!  Your doc sounds like a *&%&*$*(&#(*($*#)(*)(*!!!! I'm sorry that you are going through this.  Good luck on your 2nd and 3rd opinions.  My GYN is with Hopkins - she practices both at Bayview and in Odenton.  She's awesome. Let me know if you'd like her info.

Who do you see?  Betty Chou is my GYN, and she's in that practice.  Dr. Chou is terrific, BTW, and she's never said an unkind or unsupportive word about my weight.   Edie

Hi Edie, my doc is Roxanne Jamshidi.  I've seen Dr. Chou once or twice, and Dr. Singh once.  All 3 ladies are fantastic!  And you are right, they've been nothing but supportive about my weight pre-surgery and so helpful regarding surgery and my journey post-surgery!

You need to find a new doctor. Not just for a second opinion, to be treated like a human everythime you see them. Seriously, find a new doctor and better luck with everything.

Darla that is horrible, call me at the office and I can get you into see someone here.  She is a joke and not to see how much weight you have lost.  That is not good either. Hugs Kristen 410-590-8843

Darla, I could Not believe what i was reading. It seems it came from a Comedy drama movie! Find another Dr. or go see someone in Kristen's practice or both, get as many opinions until you are certain. this is a serious surgery, while I can say sometimes it is rather necessary for the patient and as you say so yourself, it might be the case for you in the end,  it still needs contemplation . I hope all goes well for you.  Ellie

Darla, I am so sorry you were treated that way.  How disrespectful and inhumane.  That doctor is cruel and tactless and insensitive.  She couldn't have said anything worse.  Every word she uttered was worse than before.  Please do switch to another doctor.  She sounds like she does more harm than good.  Some healer she is.  I have been there as well with a former doctor having me on the table with feet in the stirrups and then  trying to feel the ovaries and saying" you really need to do something about this weight", and it feels horrible.  Humiliating. Your uterus is your decision.  I'm glad you'll be getting a second opinion.  And you are NOT too old for bikinis!! You are in your forties for goodness sake.  I hope you write her a nasty letter upon your departure from her care.

Wow- Darla, I wouldn't let that woman touch me.  You have done a great job, and you should be proud of yourself. SCREW HER! That is terrible.

I had the same problem with my GYN a few years ago.  EVERY time I had an appointment, he made comments about my weight.  Even when I was experiencing GYN issues, they always took a back seat to my weight (which at that time was about 245).   I finally found another doctor.  On my first appointment I made it clear that the major reason I left my previous doctor was his primary focus on my weight.  She told me that at 30 years old, I knew what weight I should be and the health implications of my current weight, so there was no use harping on something I already knew.  I was going to say you might want to locate a female doctor who may be more in tune with your needs, but I see that your doctor is already a woman.  What a surprise! About the hysterectomy.  I had mine 2 1/2 years ago.  It was an open procedure - which was a necessity for my condition.  The upside - my doctor gave me a tummy tuck in the process (I had 3 c-sections that had left their tell-tale overhang).  The tummy tuck resulted in a larger incision, which she advised me of prior to surgery.  But I got a free tummy-tuck for the price of the hysterectomy only. Now I only wish that it was after I lose the rest of my excess weight so the tummy tuck could have taken more.  But I'm happy with what I was given!
