OT NEED GYN SUGGESTIONS

Hey everyone :  I need some help here.  I have a cyst on my one ovary and in the beginning of January I talked with my gyn about possible surgury ( she wanted a second ultrasound to see if it had changed at all).  She assured me it could be done laporscopically (sp?) Anyway :  the cyst has not  dissoved itself and has become extremly painful. I just spoke to her on the phone and now she is claiming that due to my wait laporscopic  is not possible (  now what has changed in  a month is my question ).  Her suggestion is a complete hysterectomy .  Open of course.  I want a second opinion. Can anyone recommend a GYN  preferably who has exp. with RNY patients. Another thing that bothers me is that I told her I am in extreme pain and want to get surgury ASAP -  she said her book for the month is full and I would have to wait until March.  This is simply not  an acceptable answer to the problem. I almost went to the ER figuring that way she would have to see me before next week.  Yesterday I took the Oxycodone DVR sent me home with  in July.  It worked with the pain but I cann't drive with a narcotic. My gyn's solution was to take a couple days off and stay home in bed with a heating pad .   AAARRRGGGHHHH  shes a woman; you would think she would understand.  I would greatly appreciate any advice I can get. Oh man I sorry for all that you are going through. I used to suffer from Cysts before and my GYN in NY treated me with giving me birth control pills until they would go away.   My OB/GYN is great but he is all the way in Bowie & Rockville.  I will give you the number in case you wanna give them a try.  The nurse practioner is great and familiar with wl patients too.   Juanita the NP Dr. Imad Mufarrij  he also did my tubal reversal in 1999 so I could have more children he is an awesome doctor.   301-805-0095 I hope you get to feeling better.  hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

(((( Darla ))))  You have my complete sympathy with the pain and discomfort of the cyst.   I really can't make any recommendations to you.   I have a wonderful gyn in Annapolis, but I don't really think that would be an option for you.   Unfortunately, I hate to say this but your best bet may be to stick with your current gyn, unless you REALLY are unhappy with her.   So many practices are not taking new patients and it might take longer to even get a consult than to go ahead and get in her book for March. When I needed my hystectomy in 1999, I had been seeing a nurse practioner for my gyn care.   Then my situation became unbearable and I needed surgery, the NP gave me a list of 7 or 8 gyn's in the Annapolis area, all but one put me off for MONTHS to even see me for an office visit.   The doctor who would see me had me in and out of surgery before any of the others would have been able to schedule me.    Good luck with this and hope you get feeling less miserable soon. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hey Darla - I'm almost afraid to give you this considering the pm's we've just exchanged (LOL!), but here goes: Dr. Charles Marek 410-256-3200 He and his office staff are great.  He has offices in Perry Hall and at GBMC.  He is going to do my lap hysto (possibly open hysto if I have plastics at the same time), in the late summer.  I had never before seen a male gyn prior to wls, but I really do love him.  He's taken great care of me. Hope this helps, Tia

All I can offer is a hug {{{Darla}}} I have to switch doctors this year too. Amazing that 100+ lbs ago, they could do laproscopic surgery...  If nothing else, 2nd or 3rd opinions will at least give you the peace of mind of knowing what the best option is.
Hugs!

Thanks Everyone so much for the responses .  i still don't know what I am going to do .  I saw my PCP last night and she said she would like to see the sonogram results.  I am going to  call the lab this morning and get them to send her copies of the report.  She calmed me down  a little.  She sugested keeping the appt next week and telling the gyn to give me all the options available.  She said that when GYN's have a patient my age (45) with pain and cyst they usually do suggest complete Hystos.  She also reminded me that the Gyn did not have my records in front of her when I spoke with her.  She has four different offices and spends one day a week at each one plus one day for surguries.   I still am bothered by the fact that she said it would have to be open.  I just don't want that .  It takes so long to recover.  Why they could  rearrange my insides Lap 100 Lbs. ago and not now is inconceivable to me. So I guess I put up with the pain  and bleeding   ((( uuggghhh  TMI I know****il next Monday.  Thanks again everyone. Darla
