Consult w/ Dr. Moen

I was a patient of DVR and decided to stay at GBMC. I have a consult w/ Dr. Moen on Feb 5.  Can anyone give me some info on what to expect?  I have finished all my testing and was waiting for the doc to submit to the insur co when my employer decided to ditch my insur co. So I had to wat until Jan 1st  to be submitted w/ the new one. THEN!  DVR left and I had to schedule w/ Dr. Moen before they would submit.  I am not happy about it . But that is the way it is.  I'm not a new patient but I havent met him.  Anyone know what to expect?   I'm not sure why I have to even have the apt.  I'm sick of waiting.

I would imagine it wouldn't be too long to submit your paperwork to the insurance. I am just sure for insurance purposes he had to be the one to consult you to be able to send in your paperwork.  Call Rose and ask her when are they submitting the paperwork they probably have by now since you completed everything.    I have decided to follow DVR to St. Agnes the hospital is actually closer to me and since I had the surgery already it made it easier for to go with him.   My husband had a consult scheduled with Dr. Mo on January 21st but he decided to cancel it and wait for DVR to be ready at St. Agnes to have his consult with him since it is closer to us.  He is also scared and I believe he does anything to prolong it. lol I want to wish you the very best and I hope you get an approval soon.  Make sure to post and let us know. I know how hard it is to wait I have no patience for that.  

Gino is consdering surgery!!!

He is and was ready for his consult but it through him for a loop when we found out DVR was leaving.  lol  Now maybe he will see DVR in St. Agnes when DVR's new secretary contacts Gino to make the consult appt.   We'll see what happens.  I am just letting him do his thing.    How are you doing? I have been very pleased with the care I have received from Dr. Moein. He is quiet at first, but once he gets to know you, he is very warm and caring. Due to the nature of the relationship we have with our surgeons, I don't think we truly get to know them until we are in the hospital, and actually spending more quality time with them. Dr. Moein was wonderful when I was in the hospital. He was caring, he took time to visit with me, and talk to me extensively. He was very hands on. I probably saw him at least twice a day all 3 days I was there (2 overnights). Since surgery, I feel more of a connection with him. I'm sorry that you had those setbacks prior to submission to insurance. Most likely the insurance company would require you to have a consult with the surgeon actually performing the procedure before they would approve it. I do believe that you will be happy with your choice to stay at GBMC with Dr. Mo. I would highly recommend him with no reservations.  I look forward to hearing when you get your surgery date. I know Rose will do her best to get you submitted as soon after the 5th as possible (it took 2 days before submission for me, because my chart was being reviewed by Kathy Storm). You might just want to have her check your file before that day so that you can be prepared with any documentation she might still need.

My first impression of Dr. Moen was now great. That was my first appointment at GBMC. Since then however, I have realized I was overly sensitive about my weight. He is a good doctor. He is also not too bad on the eyes. He walked with us in the Walk From Obesity. He is very commited to this battle.

You and I are in the same situation.  See my post from 12/19 when I made the same decision to stay at GBMC and go with Dr. Moein.  I had my consult with him and he was great, very positive as well. I talked with Rose that day, and she submitted my paperwork the same day since I too was all ready to go when DVR decided to depart.  I didn't want to wait 4 months.  You are so right, we get impatient.  We've decided to improve our lives and we want to get to it!  Keep us posted!  Jennifer

I love Dr. Moein.  When I first met DVR and Dr. Moein at an info session, I was confident that they both were fully competent, but my conversation with Dr. Moein really put me at ease.  I haven't regretted that decision for a minute.  Him being a cutie doesn't hurt either!  But seriously, go your consult with an open mind, I doubt that you will be disappointed. 

OK since we are on the subject...   Has anyone seen Dr Sulman Bhutta (foot doc in Westminster area) What a doll   ..   and how about Sanjay Gupta on tv...    (DROOL.....ING:...) Anyway,  What do you call Dr Mo when you talk to him.   Does he answer to DR. Mo?  It is alot easier.

I asked him how he liked to be addressed and he said "just call me Dr. Moein".
