need to know
Dr. Steele is my surgeon though I haven't had my surgery yet. So far, I've been impressed with her. She spent tons of time talking to me and then in another meeting w/ my parents, explaining everything. I am seeing her again before surgery to talk over some other questions I have. She seems to care alot about her patients getting the right type of surgery for their situation. I know two other people that had surgery with her and did wonderful so far. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Sweetheart, don't be discouraged! I know that Bayview has great support groups, because some of our friends here belong to them. I belong to the GBMC support group for RNY patients, and it's a wonderful group. You might also consider forging a long term bond with a therapist for after surgery. There will be a lot of mental, emotional and physical challenges to face, and a therapist can help guide you through them. Even if your friends and family aren't gung ho about you having surgery, those who love you will be there for you post-op. So, talk to either the psych practitioner you already met with, or find another and discuss your options for post-op support. You do need it, but there is more than one way to find it. I doubt an online support group would be enough to satisfy your practitioner, but I know my therapist was very happy that I had OH for support, and is always impressed when I bring new information to her that I have learned here.
Hugs!
Kathy
