Well me and DH are going to the beach for a weekend getaway for our anniversary feb 1st.  Any advise on what to take food wise.  This trip means eating out and need to get protein.  Do you pack all that crap? help! Hugs Kristen

Even now I almost never leave the house without some South Beach cereal bars just in case I get caught somewhere without a good food choice.   Early out, if I was going to be someplace with a fridge, I'd take some string cheese or wrapped cheddar slices.   I know you are not a big protein powder person, but I'd also package up the fixings for my protein shakes and take that with me too. Suggestion on eating out, look at the appetizers .. if you like shrimp try for steamed shrimp .. or do a salad with grilled chicken/shrimp .. and eat the protein first. Enjoy your weekend away!   Feb 1 is my birthday, I think I'm going to take the day off from work just because !!! (actually, I need to take a use or lose day by  Feb 20 and my birthday seems to be a good day to me..)   Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I went away for Christmas weekend, and it was a little too soon. But, it all worked out. The lucky thing was I was visiting family, so I had a fridge available. But we did eat out every day.  I just ordered whatever soup looked the best, and had the most substantial body to it to fill me up (clam chowder worked great). I had cheese sticks, cottage cheese singles and yogurt. You can bring the fixins for shakes, and get a small rubbermaid shaker bottle. Almost every grocery store sells small containers of skim milk.  I have a rubbermaid shaker that holds 2 cups. I used ziploc bags to bring protein powder, oatmeal and sugar free swiss miss. I also brought tea bags.  I have since re-discovered Atkins protein bars. Some of the best ones are the caramel ones (they have chocolate crunch, chocalate brownie, chocolate chip cookie dough). The breakfast ones are also very good. They are 11-15 gr of protein each, and ony one gram of sugar. I used them a lot when I was on the Atkins diet.
Hugs!

There is a fridge in our room, so maybe I will take some protein powder with me.  I am most worried about fluid.  I will have to really be on that.   Mo happy birthday, my anniversay is on the 3rd, 11 years this year. Hugs Kristen Mo I will see you on the 5th at the meeting.
