i just called my insurance company to see where are they with my paper work. because i ve been on pens and needles for the last week. and i just found out that my doctors office made a mistake and submitted me for the lap band.thank God i havent been approved yet.so i call the dr office and asked them how did they come up with the lap band vs. the bypass? they said i had two stickers on my chart. so why wouldnt you call the patient and confirm. all my dr notes have comments about the gastric bypass so why would you think its suposed to be something diffrent. I know when i first met with my surgeon he asked me was i  interested in the lap band and i told him i didnt know. i would do all my research and get back with him when we meet again. And  i did tell  him that the lap band wasnt for me.so the lady is calling united health care and fix her mistake. i hope this doesnt mess me up. Its been a long struggle for me to get to this point. and it seems like everything is trying to stop me. No support from family (except from my boyfriend and dad)stress at work. you name it i ve been through it these last four year. when i finally make the decision to do something for my self everything falls apart. and to put the icing on th cake its snowing bad out side and my boss isnt trying to let us leave early. i need a hug.

Big big Cyber hug!!!       Post often and the folks on this forum will be very supportive! This process can really get the best of us sometimes.  Try to stay focuse on the eventual outcome.  You WILL have your surgery.  Again, as someone else suggested, kept documenting all your calls (times, dates, names, office location, etc).   Yes, this was a silly mistake, but at least you caught it quickly because of your repeated calls.   Be careful on the roads when you do get off!

Ok now is the time to get pissed.  You pay for your insurance and you pay your doctors.  You can be tough!  Call all of them back and tell them what you need them to do.  Your insurance company works for you.  You have to call them everyday like I did, it will make them nuts and someone there will do there job.  Sometimes our PCP (family doctors) only know family medicine and have to be told what to write.  I know this cause I have worked in the medical field for 17 years.  Fight for what you want and fight like mad.  This is what you want and this is how they need to do it.  Call your surgeons office, they know how everything needs to be worded and then call your PCP and see how far you can get.  Then BREATH!  I have been there with  tons other here.  Sometime it is no more nice guy and time to kick butt.   BIG HUGS Kristen Just think in a year where you will be, it won't be where you are at now.

At least you caught this before you were on the operating table!!! Sounds like things are on their way for you. I bet you have a date any day now.

(hug) Hang in there.  I'm waiting for insurance approval too, and it's very hard to just wait.  You can see my post today about having to appeal a denial.  It's good that you caught this mistake now rather than later.  We will both get our RNY surgeries.  I know this.  Just have to keep at it, and keep calling the Insurance Co. and the Dr. office as needed to keep up on things.  It is very frustrating.
