Hey!  When's your appointment?  Mine is Feb 4th.  2 weeks, I can't wait!  I've heard Dr. S is a great surgeon.  I hear that he is not warm and fuzzy, but honestly I could care less.  I have friends and family for that.  I need somebody who knows what they are doing.  I am literally putting my life in his hands.  I hope he lives up to the hype.  I'm sure he will.  Good luck!!!

Dr S did my band in  2005, and my revision to the sleeve just this week. I think the world of his skills, and find him ot be really easy to talk with. Even more importantly, I think he really "listens: to patients, not just lip service.   JH Bayview was fabulous this time. Four weeks ago, they opened a bariatric wing on surgical with brand new private rooms, flat screen tvs, etc. The staff was really very very good.  My only concern is that his office staff is not all that good, and I found took a lot of babysitting to keep them on track.  Best wishes to you on your marriage and your surgery!  Barbara

I had the same excellent JH Bayview experience you did.  I was told the bariatric wing was all private rooms now.  In fact, supposedly, I was the first to be in my private room.   While there were a few things that didnt make sense in the room, like the toilet paper dispenser across the huge bathroom from the toilet, the rooms were really nice. The nurses were very attentive every time I whined for them.  In the hospital, Dr S saw me once (that I remember), his "fellow"/general surgeon in DS training, Dr Gupta (I really liked him) saw me a couple times, Dr. Kimberly Steele stopped in twice (I liked her too), and not to mention Dr. S's residents which were about 3 or them at a time came in every morning too.

Well, today was my first appointment with my family doctor, and it went great! After a leisurely discussion about weight loss options, and discussing my history of being overweight, she authorized her staff to prepare a referral letter for me to take up to Dr. S's office. Five years ago I investigated the process of WLS, but fell discouraged when my at-the-time insurance company turned me down.   Despite the set-back, I never waivered from my desire to pursue a healthier and thinner life. I'm actually of the belief that it will happen this time around. My appointment with Dr. S is Feb 11th, and I can hardly wait. I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my inquiry to Dr. S and his skill level.
