Anyone know of a GOOD PCP in/near Harford Co?

This is my first time posting here.  I was supposed to be having my surgery (RNY) on Jan 24 at GBMC, but when I went to my PCP last week she said she was refusing to clear me for surgery because my blood sugar and thyroid levels were too high. I asked her why she didn't tell me at my last appointment (in October) that she wouldn't clear me with my levels where they were and she said "Well, I wasn't sure if you were going to go through wth the surgery."    Yeah, I've been in the process of doing everything I need to do since last January.  By October I was more than ready and had been to mostly all of my specialist appointments, etc. She's done other bad things in the past, and I planned on ditching her after my surgery.  I thought it would be too much confusion if I changed PCPs in the middle of preparing for surgery.  Well, this was the last straw. I'm beyond devestated.  I was nearly there and now I don't know when I will get the surgery.  My surgeon said "when your levels are under control".  So I went to an endocrinologist today and he gave me 2 types of insulin, upped my thyroid meds and did some other stuff.  I go back in 3 days.  Hopefully he can give me a reasonable expectation of when he thinks I'll be under control. I am so frustrated, sad, angry, etc.  Sorry for my little rant.  But in the meantime I need to find another PCP, preferably one who is supportive of and understands WLS.  I live in Bel Air, so that would be preferable, but I'm willing to go to Abingdon, Forest Hill, Fallston, etc.  Even as far as White Marsh/Perry Hall.

No suggestions, but welcome to the group and best wishes on your WLS journey. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I'm not sure if my PCP is accepting new patients, but besides being a PCP, he is an endocrinologist.  If anyone would know whether/when it is safe for you, it would be him.  His name is Roy Phillips, M.D., he's in Forest Hill at 2005 Rock Spring Road (in the medical buildings down from the Klein's and Forest Hill Lanes.  His phone number is 410-879-7202.  He was completely behind my having WLS and has had several patients for whom it has worked wonders as far as comorbidities.  I was lucky in that I didn't have any comorbidities yet, but my A1c and liver enzymes were climbing.  Both of my parents died young from obesity-related comorbidities, so that's what landed me  here.) I am sure that no doctor is going to clear you if there is an issue that could be detrimental to you.  I know you must be so very disappointed, but try to keep your chin up and keep positive that your levels will get under control and it will happen.  Hey, if they can operate on Alan and Mark (Big Medicine), there's hope for all of us, right? I had my lapband surgery at GBMC on November 30; Dr. Moeinolmolki (Dr. Moein).  He's FANTASTIC! If you ever want to talk/vent, I'm  here.  Usually on the lap band forum, but you can e-mail me: [email protected]. I'll keep you in my prayers! Terri

SweetBea, also....I haven't confirmed this, but I hear that Dr. von Rueden is moving over to St. Agnes.  If it's true, I don't know when, but that's all the way over in Catonsville.  When I heard that, I was glad I went with Dr. Moein.  GBMC is far enough, in my book!
