good morning
Does anyone have united health? I was wondering what the average what time is for approval.Dr Singh's office submitted my work on thursday. And one more question what do you suggest i do because i dont have a supportive boss about the surgey. should i even tell her what i am doing? Or just tell her i am having surgey and its personal? Because I know she is going to ask me why i need three to six weeks off.
You are under no obligation to give her any information regarding your time off. I would recommend that you don't out and out lie about the procedure if you decide to tell her something specific because that could come back to bite you. If as part of your WLS you are having your gall bladder removed, you could say that you are having gall bladder surgery without it being a fib. Otherwise, just say you are having a medical procedure done if you are taking sick time. You may have to have FLMA paperwork filled out depending on your employer and I am not sure how much of your information has to go on that and if that is between you and your HR department without involving your boss.
Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.
Hugs, Mo
Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
I was thinking about telling her i was having my gall bladder taken out. because she asks a lot of questions. So when i got my ultra sound of it a month ago. she said if i have to get it taken out i would be back in a week. she did all that research on the internet about the recovery time.I have a sit down job so i am know i wont be out the full six weeks. I just want to take enough time off to heal. I talked to someone in hr and they said any surgey thats isnt cosmetic can apply for std.
I used to have United Healthcare. My employers policy was only underwritten by them, the employer is actually self insured. Unfortunate for me was that they did not include weight loss surgery under any cir****tances. But, I changed jobs last year, and my new insurance covers it.
I was very honest with my supervisors about my surgery. I knew that I wanted their support when I returned, and I didn't want to answer a whole bunch of questions about my rapid weight loss. I was only out for 12 days. I also have a co-worker at a nearby location that had the surgery a few months before me, and she also was very up front about it. That isn't for everyone, and you certainly don't need to share any more of your personal information than you are comfortable with. They are not required to know anything more than you are going for surgery. I work in retail, and it isn't the greatest environment for recovering from this type of surgery, and having a water bottle handy all the time, etc. so it was just better for me to be up front. I also needed a doctors excuse for the water, since it is against policy to have any food or beverage on the sales floor (the usual for any retailer).
Hugs!
