I was approve for the gastric bypass in Missouri where I've been living for a yr now. I wanted to ask anybody that can help what surgeon would you recommend an why. I'm from Baltimore an I don't know any surgeon out there. I will be looking up one an callin this week  to meet when I get back. Also I was told that I would have to get get approve again when I get there so its back to a waitin game again. But I really want this so I will do what ever it takes to get it. When I get back I will be going to get Maryland Medcaid. So if you can tell me one that will do under them would be great. So thanks for reading an plz post if you have an suggestions. take care.

Hi there!       I am not sure how medicaid works, or who does or does not accept it. I did just want to say WELCOME to the Maryland forum. I look forward to getting to know you.

My Surgery was done by Micheal Sweitzer at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, you can give them a call the main # is 410-550-0100 and ask for Dr. Sweitzers office and they can tell you if they accept your insurance.  Good Luck Violet

I had to switch surgeons when my first surgeonleft the practice.  I left the bariatric center completely and went to the doctor who actually trained my original surgeon. I didn't have to start over but I made sure that there was no gap in the 6 months.  I continued to go to the original center until I could get an appointment with the new doc. (Drs. Singh and Averbach at St. Agnes). I am impressed with the track record there and all of the people who work in the practice are great people.  They really go out of their way to assist you. Check them out at www.lapbandmd.org. Deb

My surgeon was Dr. von Rueden at GBMC. I love that man for the changes he had assisted me in making in my life. I understand he is moving to practice at St. Agnes.  If you notice fromthe posts that we all love our surgeons. I think it will depend on who accepts your insurance. I would also make sure to bring a copy of your records with you so that maybe you won't have to go through the hoops process all over again.
