Hi everyone, Ok, I can't hold on anymore!  My clothes are falling off and I must shop!  I've actually never been to a thrift store.  Imagine that? Gail shared some info, so I thought others might have some as well. Have you shopped in any local thrift stores? If so, which ones offered great items, great prices, etc? I'm looking for work clothes and casual clothes. A friend shared a store that she loves, but the largest size they had was 20.   Ugh!  I'm getting there, but not quite yet.  I need a store that has at least to size 24. I live in PG County outside DC, but I work in Baltimore on JH Bayview Campus.  However, for the right bargains, I'm willing to drive a bit. Thanks in advance for the helpful hints! Taya

Pikesville has a great consignment shop with several sizes over 20. I used to shop there all the time. In fact as your travel down Reisterstown Road in Pikesvile there are several shops. They always have good quality clothing. Value Village just up the street from me has some good options as well. I live off of Frederick Road. You would be able to stop there on the way home from work. One thing to consider when shopping in thrift stores is that many of them have special color tags each day that give additional amounts off. I bet there are some great thrift shops in the DC area. I need to go again as I need some winter clothes. I have no warm shirt to wear that fit me.

Have you considered  Goodwill?  There are a couple in Frederick, and I know that there is one in Gaithersburg.  One of the Frederick stores always has really nice things.  I have picked up items with the original tags on them for just a couple of dollars.  I bought an Eddie Bauer skirt and pair of slacks with the original tags.  Both were less than $5.00.  I then handed them off to my sister (she was offended that I now wear a smaller size than she does) but, the clothes were a bargain and I was glad to have someone to give them to.

I have no experience with thrift stores either and my clothes are falling off too.  I resulted in going on line and to the stores I ususally shop to buy things marked down really low and/or on sale.  Also, I was just talking to my co-worker who loves shoping at thrift stores and she told me about Value Village in White Oak off New Hempshire Ave.  They take 25% of whatever you purchase every day. I can't think of the exit of**** but it is labled White Oak.  She said Value Villiage is right after passing the first light on your life.  She said if you go to the second light you have gone too far.  Maybe you can call information and get the address.   I plan to go shopping sometime this week at the Value Village in White Oak. Hope this information help.
