I am very disappointed in myself and do not know what I can do. I had RNY on 11/8/06 I stopped losing weight in Feb of 07. My husband had his surgery in Oct 06 he stopped losing about the same time as me and has now gained back like 10 lbs and I have gained back about 6. I got very discouraged with the weight loss stopping so quickly when I was following everything I was supposed to do and started eating what I want, and drinking diet soda. i still exercise and take vitamins but not the calcium all the time and hardly any water and no protein shakes at all. I just want to get back on track I feel like not losing any more after such a short time and then doing what i want i have sabotaged myself, stretched my pouch and stoma, and now i never feel full even with water loading. I had even started smoking again but I stopped that several months ago. Anyone have advice?

Sorry to hear that you and DH are struggling!  Big hugs to you both!   Don't know how much actual advice I can offer, as I'm still a bit of a newbie, but I would suggest: 1) Forgive yourself!!  This is a journey and along the way, we all make some bad choices.  Don't continue to beat yourself up.  Realize that you can't change the past, but you can chance the future.  Only you can decide that tomorrow will be different.  Start small, like after today, no more soda. 2) Talking with Dr. Moein about your eating and other habits 3) Perhaps talk with the psychologist who cleared you for surgery.  There may be issues that you haven't even admitted to yourself. 4) I've seen others refer to the 5 day pouch test to jump start.  Don't know too much about it, but here's the site:  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html Hope this helps a little! I don't have any advice, as I am very newly post-op. But, just wanted to offer hugs, and encouragement. I think Taya had great ideas, of talking to Dr. Moein (and Sloan) and your psychologist or therapist. Dr. Moein encouraged me pre-op to maintain a relationship with the therapist I was sent to for my psyche eval., and I'm glad that I did. Keep your chin up, and think of today as the first day of the rest of your journey, and keep on moving forward. I wish you success and speed getting on track!
Hugs!

I totoally agree with what Taya and Kathy said.  Take care and if you need to talk we are here for you. You have done the biggest step right now is come forward publically and admitted your problem now all you can do is forgive yourself because you are human and grab on to your boot straps tightly and work on fixing this problem and working your tool. Best wishes to you and your husband.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
