Banded on 1/5/08
This is my first post, but I think this is a good place to start.
What a way to start the new year! I had my LapBand on Friday, came home on Saturday and feel much better today. I have already lost 5 pounds but that's to be expected since I haven't had anything other than liquid since Thursday. St. Agnes Hospital is great and my surgeon was also great. The worse part for me was waiting until Saturday morning for water. I wasn't even thinking about food but was really upset that I could not have something to drink. Thank goodness for the pain medication. It helped me get through the night.
Although I was nervous and seemed to have a lot of obstacles before the surgery, I'm happy that I went through with it and am hopeful that I will be at my goal weight in about a year.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Although I have not posted before today, I have been reading the other posts on the Board for the last few months. Your experiences helped me get through.
Hi Sonja
Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.
Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!

Congratulations Sonja! I am so glad that you had a good surgery and recovery. You are well on your way! I had my lapband surgery on 11-27-07. I just had my first fill yesterday. The past 6 weeks have gone by so fast. I hope yours does too.

Danielle -- I find that I am trying to do too much because I am feeling better and then I do not feel so good. It is going by fast so far. I am hoping to get my first fill after about six weeks too. Are you feeling ok now that you are six weeks out? I am looking forward to feeling better than my old self and I am not there yet!

I know what you mean. Once you start feeling better it is hard not to over do it. I was the same way. It is hard but you dont want to wind up hurting your self in the long run. They say this is the most important time. 4-6 weeks after surgery is when you need to heal. You will have plenty of time to be super active later. The life of your band has a lot to do with how you take care of yourself in the first 6 weeks. I am feeling so great. Everything has been positive and I have tons of energy! Thank you for asking.

Congratulations! That first night withou****er is a killer, isn't it. I thought I was gonna die! They gave me this little sponge for washing my mouth and told me NOT to swallow! What temptation!
Just keep sipping water and walking around. Use a heating pad if you have gas pain. You will feel better very soon!
