Dr Von Reuden is leaving GBMC and going to St Agnes.   Yet another set back for me.  I was ready to have my papers sent in to my insur co when my employers decided to ditch Mamsi and go with Cigna Jan 1.     So I had to put my wls on hold. Now DVR is leaving GBMC and Dr moen is th eonly one left.   Any of you pending surgery and need to decide if to follow DVR?    I dont know what to do.   What have you all decided?  How is Dr Moen?   (Im having the lap band.)   Anyone have theirs at St Agnes...  how was it?

I am post op and I plan to follow DVR to St. Agnes it is not because I don't like Dr. Moein it is because St. Agnes is closer to me and I am so used to DVR.  But you can call St Agnes asked them what are the steps for you to do in order to follow DVR over.  Since you already did whatever was needed to get done I am sure that can follow you there.  Dr. Moein is very nice and compassionate he took care of me when I had complications whenever DVR was not at the hospital he was there to make things better.   I believe that Dr. John Flowers will stay with Dr. Moein so he will not be all alone in doing all surgeries.   I wish I had better answers for you but I wanted to respond to your post.   Best wishes in your decision and keep us posted how it goes. Hugs, Edited for all my typos. It is never easy when you are trying to respond with a 3 year old having a canary on your lap. lol

I had my surgery at St Agnes with Dr Averbach and I am very happy. He saved my life. If you want to know anything I will do my best to answer.   I am exhausted right now and can't think what to say but wanted to let you know I went through St Agnes. Laurie

Good luck in making the right decision for you.  I had Dr. Moein and I love him.  Nothing against DVR, but from the moment I met them both at the info seminar, I knew that Dr. Moein was the doctor for me.  I don't think you can lose either way you go, as I've great things about St. Agnes's program also.  Trust your gut, do your research and make the choice that works for you!

Interesting that GBMC would let DVR go after they recruited him so heavily; however, money talks and you know what walks.  I guess GBMC needed DVR to get their program up and running and to be a success and that is exactly what he has done and now it's time for him to move on. When I was conducting my research, St Agnes didn't have a lot of great reviews -- maybe things have changed.  With DVR going to St. Agnes -- things can only go UP!

I can chime in on a vote of confidence for Dr. Moei, my profile has more. DVR will certainly be missed and I know he has a strong following. It isn't fair imo to assume he left strictly for money. The GBMC admins were certainly a question mark for much of my early experiences, but as of late things have improved. The bariatric program seems to be growing at an accelerated rate for sure. Here's hoping they keep up the well deserved reputation as such a stellar program. I was a self pay so I usually refrain from insurance matters.

I will also follow DVR to St Agnes. He perfofrmed my wls and I also live 5 minutes from St Agnes. Convenience is the name of the game here.

I live in Towson but went to St Agnes for my surgery since Dr. Singh had the numbers when it came to lap banding.  I'm in health care and thought the care I received at St . Agness was awesome!!  I hit that call light and they were in my room in less than 5 minutes!  Convenience was secondary to me - I wanted someone I felt had a good bedside manner and had LOTs of experience with banding.
