I will start by saying I have lost 56 lbs in my first 3 months. I am very thrilled with that. I do not have the energy that I had in the first month out though. DVR told me to stop the Flintstone vitamins and start taking adult vitamins. I need to increase my exercise and my protein intake. I will work very hard at changing these things. I have done very well with this surgery and so happy that I decided to get it. I was not really tempted to eat the holiday goodies which was a miracle in itself. Although, they looked scrumptious. I have treated myself to Breyer's no sugar added vanilla ice cream with a sugar free hot fudge someone made me for Christmas. OMG...it was delicious. Not something you want to eat too much of though. Even though the sugar is low....THOSE DAMM CALORIES ARE NOT!!!!!  Anyway it satisfied me while everyone was eating the other things. I will post the recipe if anyone is interested in making some. Thank each and everyone of you for being here and supporting me through this surgery. You are all special.

Gail, Congratulations on your Fantastic weight loss in just 3 months.  I am so proud of you!   I think once you up your vitamin intake you and always up the protein you will feel great. Are you do ing the vitamin B-12 too?   I have always taken centrum.  You are three months post op did he ok you to take whole pills? If so by the regular centrum, a Vitamin B complex is vital too.  I have never taken flintstones.  I know that 2 flinstones is what is required for my 6 year old and I don't believe we get what we need from it since we do not absorb all of it.   I am so glad you did great around the Holidays!!   Isn't it wonderful to just be satisfied with a little something and not have to raid everything on the table? I would definitely love the recipe for the icecream and sf fudge.  Did you get a bit gassy after eating it?  I get gassy after I have the sugar alcohols. lol  I have to steer clear away from stuff like that if I am visiting. lol I am so glad to hear from you and I hope you are having a great New Year so far! Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Cira...I do not get gassy from Splenda. The only thing I have trouble with is sorbitol. I will post the recipe soon.

Neither do I.  So the bryers have splenda? We have bought SF ice cream and it tells you how much sugar alcohol it has in there. You would have to read the ingredients to see what sugar alcohol is it.  Mine ran out so I can't check.  lol Take care

Congrats Gail    you are doing great =) I have my 6 month appt next week.  and I am hoping to be 110 down at that point. but that would be 10 Lbs. in 1 week so I guess I will be happy with whatever it is. My biggest problem so far as been the water intake :  just not a water drinker. Did he mention the fact that he is leaving GBMC?  Just wondering if they are giving us postops the option of staying with gmbc or not ?  I hope so.

Anyway Congrats again.

Hi Gail, Sounds like you are doing great!    Best wishes as the journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Congrats Gail! I will echo what Cira mentioned.   Get to the adult vitamins and the more protein you can pack in the the better off you will be.    Depending on my training schedule, I am now doing between 120 and 150g of protein a day.   Much of it is supplements, but it really helps.   I feel so much better when I get all my protein.    As for vitamins, I have been using the Bariatric Advantage Chewable Multivitamin since the surgery.  Before surgery (for about 10 years) I had been doing the Centrum and they worked as well.   I know, I saw Centrum Chewables about 3 or 4 months ago in my Giant.   I don't know if they are common since I was looking for something else and just happened upon them.   I figured I would try them once my current supply of BA's ran out.   But that won't be for another 2 months or so. Good job on the holidays and you will have to pass along that SF Hot Fudge recepie.   I have already discovered the Bryers.   The vanillia is the only one that is under 5g of sugar though.   The others are as high as 10 (Butter Pecan).   So I have stayed away from all but the van.   I also found that Food Lion has a low fat (2g) low sugar (4g) vanillia ice cream.   It is has a different taste from the Bryers.  Not better or worse...just different.   I found that my wife and kids like the Food Lion better, so I buy the Bryers (so they don't eat mine!) :-) Wow...56 lbs in 3 months.   That is incredible.

Keep up the great work!

Dave
Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Centrum makes chewables in both regular and Silver Centrum varieties.  They're huge, but they taste okay, and they're a far sight cheaper than the ones you have to buy online.  Target sells both. Edie

Yeah Gail! Congrats on the awesome weight loss. I hope at 3 months out, I'll be as successful! I'm in the same boat looking for vitamins. I did find that Viactiv has started to make a chewable multi. The calcium in it isn't the right kind, but I have the Citracal chews for that, so I'm not worried. If that doesn't work for me, I will be looking online to find something. I'm all about flavor, and that has been my big issue. I'm thrilled to hear that the NSA icecream has worked for you. I ate a lot of it when I was on Atkins, but was afraid it might still be too much sugar for this way of eating. I recently found one of my old favorites again, the Breyers CarbSmart fudgecicles. They have a moderate amount of sugar alcohol, but they haven't ever bothered me (I am fairly sensitive to most sugar alcohol). They are really creamy, and even have a few grams of protein. The only place I've seen them is Mars, but I haven't looked at Giant or Shoppers yet. My challenges now are eating slow enough, and drinking enough water. I'm not used to drinking if I am not thirsty, and I usually get thirsty right after I eat, and then have to wait 30 min. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. Thanks for the progress update, you're an inspiration!!
Hugs!
