Does anyone have any ideas or has something worked for you? Other than the NuvaRing?????? What about the patch? Anyone? Hugs Kristen

I just completed 3 months on the NuvaRing and I hated it.   I'm going to see my OB/GYN today and we're going to discuss the Depo provera shot.

Loestrin FE (its a pill)  worked great for me.   I only stopped when Pooh Bear got Vasectomy.   Worked great for regulating my monthly as well. Everyone I talked to about Depo  says they put on weight   20 pound average. Good luck Diana RNY 9/17/03 Dr. Roe 360/196/forever aiming at 180

Wow, Diana, really?  Weight gain?  No way, I don't want that. I'm curious about the Loestrin pills.  How large are they? Did you have an issues with their size and your pouch? I thought that pills were a no no due to malabsorption issues. Thanks for the insight.

Hey Kristen - Where were you when I needed you????  I was on Depo pre-op and after surgery, due to the enormous weight loss in a short period of time, my hormones went nuts and I had my period for 3 straight months.  Huge clots, heavy flow, etc., I became anemic and had to have a d&c, iron infusion and blood transfusion.  The only thing that stopped it was Provera pills and getting Depo every 2 months instead of 3.  I'm currently still taking the shot and only have to take the pills if I have breakthrough bleeding.  I need to have a hysterectomy and was going to see about having it done in February, but since I was just transferred again, I'm not sure if February is going to be viable since I was going to try to have some plastics done at the same time and anticipated being out for 8-10 weeks.   That being said, I have miserably gained about 40 pounds of the 140 I lost - my pcp and my gyn attribute MOST of it to the Depo, but there really isn't another consideration for me at this time. Sigh!!!!  But thanks for reaafirming what they said - I knew I wasn't eating that much bad stuff!!!! Hugs, Tia

I am actually using the Merina IUD.  It is plastic, can be taken out at any time and uses progesterone.  It is recommended for women who have already had children.  I have very light and short periods, no cramping and I have had no weight gain.  The device can remain in place for 5 years and can be placed in the Dr.s office. Just my experience. Kim
