Hello  I am having surgery next month and wanted to get started on stocking up on certain idea.  I would like to get an idea.  What would be the best products to buy.  Can someone give me a list or idea's

My best suggestion is water. Get lots of bottled water. A few sticks of chapstick, and be careful over buying other things. I had a ton of sugar free jello, and chicken broth. While I did use some of it, I really have a lot of it left. I gave most of it to the food baskets collection at our school.  Best wishes to you for an uneventful surgery.

ROFL!  I just cleaned out my Jello supply for Madeline's school food drive. Seriously, you can over-buy.  When you're eating a quarter cup of cottage cheese at one time, the giant economy size container can go bad before you use it all.  I concur with Dianne's suggestions and also suggest soups in cans or aseptic packaging.  Teabags.  A box or two of sugar-free popsicles.  Sugar-free pudding.  Applesauce.  Instant grits (if you like them) or other hot cereals. I agree with the water! Sugar free popsicles have helped me through this week. I would wait to buy too much more. Good luck Amy

It is so hard to stock up on things ahead of time. You may want to have your vitamins and broths ready for when you come home. It see4ms like everyone has a change in tastes after surgery. What you like now you may hate then and vice versa.

I suggest a couple things.  First, I like the Shur Fine brand of FF SF fudgesicles.  The Shur Fine brand has 2g of protein where most others have only 1g.  Fudgesicles and popsicles are considered liquids so that's important when you're in your initial liquid phase.  I still buy a box every now and again because they just taste good.  I had one last night! The other thing I suggest is to order sample packs of the various protein mixes.  I do not, however, suggest that you invest too much money in any single brand.  The reason is that your tastes may change.  I learned this the hard way.  Before my surgery, I bought tons of the Isopure brand and, after the surgery, couldn't tolerate it.  Luckily, th eGNC guy took back the 4 cases (!!) without question.  I currently the Unjury (unjury.com) brand now and love it. Hope this helps. --Eric

You can order samples from Vitalady.com and BariatricEating.com. Both have different kinds of flavors. After 4 months my favorite has turned out to be the cinnamon vanilla from Vialady. But I had to kiss quite a few frogs before settling down with that. One of my friends on the DS board swears by Banana Scream. The other one I really like now is from BariatricEating. The powder is already mixed in the bottles so you only have to add water of milk. Now the one I like is chocolate coconut. I mix it with low carb chocolate flavored milk I get from Wal-Mart made by Hood.  OMG it is to die for . It is like drinking an almond joy milk shake. Yuuuuuuuuuum
