Update, and question

OK, well I will ask the question first.  I would call the office, but I did that at 10 this morning for another question, and haven't heard back yet. OK, well, my drain site is leaking and soaking the dressing. I have changed the dressing each day since I've been home.  Yesterday was the first time it was soaked.  The color is just yellow with a little bit of pink, same as in the drain.  I have no pain, just a little itching. Should I be worried? I'm just changing it twice a day now. Could I be doing too much activity? When I called the office, it was about my prescription for  Prevecid. My insurance company won't cover it, and I have to find a generic version. I also intended on asking about when I could switch to full liquids when the Nurse or Dr. Mo called me back... but since I didn't hear, I went by my binder. I even had a handwritten note to myself that I asked Sloan to clarify the timeline, and she did.  So, I had an Atkins shake, and some lite and fit yogurt today.  I feel GREAT! I feel full for the first time. I can truly say each day brings much improvement!  Unless I have a setback this week, I am going back to work next week, on light duty. I will mostly be sitting, but will have plenty of opportunities to get my walking in.  Just like I am doing at home, lol, but at least I will get paid for it.
Hugs!

Hi Kathy! Not an expert opinion of course, but I think that the drain leaking is fine.  My drain did the same thing.  I called and Kathy said that I was ok, as long as it didn't appear to be bright pink or red.  My mom packed the area closest to the skin and the next day, there was no more leakage.  But again, I'd still try to get through to the office tomorrow.  Happy to hear that you are feeling better! Thanks very much Taya!  It's comforting to know someone had the same issue. I should hear back from them tomorrow, but if not I will call again. Hugs! Kathy

Hi Kathy I have been thinking about you.  Take the bandage off and let it air out a little.  Keeping things covered just keeps it wet and moist.  Let it get wet a little in the shower but don't soap it up. Hugs Kristen

Thanks Kristin, I'll do that with todays shower.  The saran wrap cover idea I had heard about hasn't really worked anyhow.

Hi Kathy, I am happy to read that you are doing better with each day.   As for the drain I totally agree with Taya's advise.   Take care and post an update when you see the doctor.  I go to see DVR in the 12th. When are you going?

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Drats, I'm going on the 13th. Everyone I'd love to meet goes before me, lol.  I'm sure he'll be very pleased with your progress, and how wonderful your pregnancy and WLS recovery are going together.
Hugs!
