My First 5K!!!

I attended the Jingle Bells 5K Run/Walk on Saturday morning at Solomons Island, MD.  No, I didn't run, I walked.  The good news is that I was told at the finish line that I was the 2nd guy and 5th overall walker to cross the line.  Woohoo!!  That's not bad at all considering there were over 500 people there (I don't know how many people walked vs run).  I'm very proud of myself.  The downside is that I was walking so fast that my legs are still a little sore. I'm wondering who this guy is that registers for 5Ks now?!?!?!  Honestly, I heard about the 5K earlier in the week (my company is a sponsor) and registered on a whim.  I'm not sure what happened in my brain but I'm sooo glad to know that I'm not the same lazy guy I saw in the mirror before the surgery. Next year......... I run!! --Eric

You inspire me!!  WTG!!  Next year I might sign up also.  Had wanted to this year with the kids.  They were both going to run and I was going to walk.  Needless to say, the calendar changed our plans.  You're doing great Eric.  Keep up the good work. TraciL

Hey Eric, That sounds like fun!    I think about doing those things, but never seem to register.   I can see myself as a walker tho .. don't believe I will ever be a 'runner. Hugs, Mo P.S.   I think it's the same guy who drags friends over mountains hiking!!!!

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Eric that is so awesome!!!   You are doing great and truly have come a long way.  You are inspiring!  I too am thankful that I am not the lazy person I used to be.  I wasn't lazy because I didn't want to do anything - I just never felt good enough to be active.  Always tired and sore.  I remember hating to go walk around the mall with my kids because I would get so tired and sore (my aching back and feet) after only 1 hour.  Now I love to go shop with them and they are trying to keep up with me.  It's great!   Keep it up.  We look forward to hearing about the next 5K - or maybe 10K!?!   Robin

10Ks???  I didn't know there was such a thing.  I'm not sure I'm that ambitious.
