I am back
I have been away since Thurs night. Went to the eastern shore to take care of my 2 granddaughters while their mom went to Jamaica. She took her laptop with her so I could not read and post.
12/2 was my 2 month post op. I am down 42 lbs which I think is a little slow but I am very happy with it. I have not been doing very well with my liquid and protein intake. I am drinking a shake now but I just have to force it down.
I am getting back to walking the halls and stairways at the apartment building where I work. It is a great workout. I walk up 2 flights of stairs, down the hallway and up the next 2 flights. I start at the 3rd floor and go to the 12th or 13th floor. I had been sick with strep throat and stopped for awhile. Also, I have been very tired and sleepy. Everyone keeps asking if I feel ok. I guess it many be somewhat normal to still feel this way at 2 mos out......or is it?
Hope you all are doing well.

I'm glad to hear you're walking so many stairs. That's awesome.
I had my first blood test last month and received the results prior to having my appointment. So, I kinda freaked out because they were somewhat out of whack. I went to the Internet and did all kinds of research on what the results were telling me. What I found was that one of the things that can happen as a result of not getting enough vitamins (i.e., A, E, K and B12) is that you get tired and sleepy. Hmmm, sound familiar? So I just hope you're keeping up with all your vitamins!!
BTW, my surgeon looked at my results and even though my beta caratine is out of whack, the others weren't nearly as bad as I thought. I guess that's why he's the doc and I'm not. I'm taking beta caratine pills now and am looking forward to having really good results on my next bood test.
Keep up with your protein too!!!

Hi Gail,
Nice to see that you are back. I was thinking about you yesterday and thought I should shoot you a pm and then I check the MD forum and there you go!
I was very exhausted the first 2 months from having surgery.
But reading all that walking and going up and down those stairs girl I look up to you because at 2 months post ip I could barely do anything like that.
What I did notice was that when I didnt keep up with my protein intake I was very tired all the time and whenever I upped the protein I had energy I didn't have before. I know what you mean having to force down the protein drink I had to do the same. Tell me what are you drinking now? I have noticed that the only one I can tolerate really good without all the gagging is the Body Fortress I buy at Walmat an almost 2 lb jug for 13.99 vanilla flavor. if I shake it up and not make it foamy I really enjoy it. But when I put it in the blender and put fruits and and flavoring I have to let sit for a while get rid of the foam and then I am fine with it. As long as that foam is no way near I am good. lol I add frozen unsweeten fruit, vanilla extract and splenda and it is yummy.
Make sure you are taking all your vitmains!! I take vitamin b complex, calcium, mutlivitamin plus a prenatal one, vitamine D and a vitron C (iron pill)
Congratulations on weight losst girl 42 oounds is awesome in 2 months. Tell me what diet ever made you lose 42 pounds in 2 months?
Girl you are doing fantastic and remember we are all unique and we lose weight differently. I can't wait to see you in person or some updated pics of you.
Take care
Hugs,

protein is so crucial!! if you don't like the shakes, try something else... unjury chicken broth i find incredibly tasty and has 21g of protein...also, the isopure zero carb fruit drinks have 40g, and i like about 1/2 of the flavors...unjury also has an unflavored protein powder that you can add to sugarfree pudding or jello, or add to creamy soups...
everybody's tastes are different, and there are a LOT of products out there...i've liked about 1/2 of what i've tried, but i've tried a lot, so i still have a bunch of stuff to choose from...the shakes are probably the least tasty things i've bought, but i found the EAS advant-edge carb control grab and go shakes are pretty good if really cold...and a four-pack is less than $5 at walmart:)
don't give up!!
Try making your protein shakes a little different to find a way you like them. I always put yogurt in mine. I use either one of th elittle cups of Light and Fit or about 4 lg spoonfuls if I have the large container. I think the yogurts make the shakes more plalatble.
