Help am i being to hard on myself???
I went to my Dr. the other day and i lost a total of 82 pounds since may 3rd. I read other peoples on here and they have lost much much more by now, i asked my Dr. and he told me thats impossible that im right were i should be but i feel that im not and i keep pushing myself harder. then he told me i shouldn't go on this site anymore because im letting it get to me to much. I dont know what to do, i feel im not losing and my never reach my goal. HELP!
We all lose at different rates, and many different factors affect weight loss. Some people are 5'2" and don't need as many calories everyday as people who are 6'2". Men almost always lose faster than women. Some people have screwed up their metabolic functions more than others. Some people have more muscle mass. Some people exercise more. Some people are very good at drinking their water. I could go on and on, but you get my point. 82 lbs since May ain't too shabby. I'd take it!

Yes, you are pushing yourself too hard. This site is for support. It is NOT to compare yourself to others. It is for learning and education. Everyone loses differently. It all depends on where you started out. It depends on your body. Each weight loss is individual. You have done well.
I have lost 90 lbs. That was over a year. I think that is terrrific!

As my tag line says .... Comparison is the Thief of Joy!
Both Edie and Aime are 100% correct .. everyone loses differently .. and this site is for support

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
I agree with all other comments. This is an individual journey for each of us. Be proud of the 82 that you have lost so far. What it you hadn't had surgery? You might be 82 lbs in the other direction. This site can be so helpful, if taken in the right context - support, empathy, understanding and a community of people dealing with related issues. Don't lose faith in your journey by comparing yourself to someone else. Best of luck!

I understand what you are saying. I felt like that for a long time. I could eat more and the weight loss wasn't as fast as I thought. For me though my clothes sizes change constantly. I exercise a lot swim almost daily and though a pound is a pound muscle is smaller than fat so your body changes. The same size weighs more. The biggest thing isn't the numbers for me now.It is the health and all the things I can do now I couldn't before. I make gratitude lists and believe me i still have wow moments every day. It is amazing. I never cared much about life and today I love life. I treasure everyday. A year and a hal*****he Drs were saying I was dieing and I knew I was.I felt my body shutting down and today I feel alive. Oh I still have health problems but that is life. I love my life and never expected to get this far. Congratulations on a wonderful loss. Keep up the good work.
