Protein supplement suggestions?

Hi everyone! I'm sure this has been posted and answered somewhere before, but to be honest, I'm feeling lazy and don't want to spend the time looking! :)   I'm scheduled to have the Lapband on 12/7 and am trying to get thngs together. My docs want me to be on liquids for two weeks after surgery followed by two weeks of mushies. My nutritionist stressed the importance of getting enough protein and strongly suggested I drink protein supplements during the first month and possibly longer. She wants me to get ones that have high protein content, and low sugar, preferably whey based. She suggested a few. I've tried the EAS one and it's okay, but I could easily see myself getting sick of it before too long. I'd like to get some pre-mixed ones for portablility, but also get some powder to mix with other foods/drinks. Do you guys have any favorite products? Thanks!

I use Unjury.  I like the chocolate and for me, it is the most palatable of the protein powders I have tried.  There are other flavors and Unjury sends recipes with the product. Good luck, Kim

My favorite is the Adkins Protein shakes.  Best place to get them is Sam's club....Ive tried the powders and they are just to grainy for me....I am at the end of my 2wks of liquids (lap on 11/12) and have my post op tomorrow....Looking forward to the mushy stuff!!!!! Best of luck with your surgery.  Dr. Averbach is a great surgeon! bambam77

I like Adkins Advatange for the premade shakes. Don't buy too much of one type prior to surgery. Tastes change afterwards.

I take a liquid protein. 2 oz is 32 grams. It taste like grape neigh syrup. But it goes down quick. You can find it on www.globalhp.com.  I get it at my surgeons office.

I learned the hard way to be careful with the so called protein shots. You can dump on too high a concentration of protein.

I use the EAS powder.   I make my own version of an iced coffee .. 1 - 2 cups of ice (crushed or cubes) 2 cups of ice water 1/4 cup DaVinci SF syrup (I use either hazelnut or kahlua flavor) 1 1/2 scoops protein powder (vanilla) 2 spoons instant decaf coffee 1 tablespoon non-dairy (powdered) coffee creamer 3 - 4 equal packets I put everything into a zip lock screw cap container and shake it up.   It's still pretty gritty at that point so I toss it into my bag to carry to work.   By the time I get to work, it's all dissolved and I just shake it up again and drink. I'll be 4 years post op in March and my daily shake is still one of the mainstays of my health / food plan. Best wishes on your WLS journey. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!
