Thanks so much Kristin!!!
I'm having my surgery at GBMC. I'm assuming things will go as planned and I will be there for 2 nights.
I've never had surgery. But, I tend to bounce back very quickly from illnesses. I've always been very lucky! I've also been blessed with a high pain tolerance. So, I have a small glimmer of hope that I will be pleasantly surprised, and allowed to go home after 1 night. But, the usual is 2, so I won't be disappointed with that.
I'm thrilled, excited, elated and all of that. I'm starting to get just a little nervous about the unknowns. I'm not nervous at all about the prospect of pain, or the diet. I'm just a little nervous about the little things like the catheter and the tubes, IVs, etc.
Between this board, my in person support group and the books I have read, I feel very well prepared, and very much at peace with my decision.
Hugs!
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
I just wanted to say a quick congratulations on your upcoming surgery. Don't worry about the SICU. It'll be nice and quiet and usually you get a little more special attention. My nurse gave me a very nice sponge bath and applied lotion all over. It was nice to have her help me get cleaned up after the surgery and begin in bed for a good long while.
Hugs, Robin
